Jobs that value their employees do not exist anymore and people need to get over it, amirite?
by Anonymous1 year ago
Sounds like a good reason to unionize. If you can't rely on the company to do what's right, best to insure it with a contract.

How would unionizing make any of that OP wrote different?
by Anonymous1 year ago
People shouldn't "get over it" the companies should just do better
by Anonymous1 year ago
Do what better? That's what OP is asking.

Yeah just get over it dude it's not like we have no choice to exist on this earth

FTFY
Companies have never cared about employees and never will. Laws and Organized labor makes companies provide benefit packages and working arrangements that make companies appear to care.

Corporations have never valued employees as anything more than a means to an end (profit). This take isn't revolutionary.

Actually I'm looking for jobs and my dad and I went to Costco the other day (UK), and the employees seemed really happy to be working there :)

Costco has a good reputation as far as large retailers go.

I don't really care if my employer values me or not as long as the paychecks keep coming
by Anonymous1 year ago
I think this is just untrue. I work with several big tech companies as a consultant and they all seem to have pretty good culture.
The pay is good. I mean if you want to be feel valued, this is in my opinion the best thing to measure how much they value me.
I don't understand how you consider small shops to have better relationships. This would entirely depend on who the owners are at the small companies, as well as who your direct management line is at a big company.
I mean if you're a retail worker, for a large corp then yeah it's bad but in tech, management seems pretty good in general.

We are all gear cogs to the machine get used to it nobody matters to anyone

That's not an unpopular opinion where i'm from. Some Companies are awful these days.
by Anonymous1 year ago

I work for a large electrical contractor they cannot pay enough money or give enough benefits to find enough, licensed, and talented help
Fewer and fewer people are going into the trades, so there is a serious shortage of licensed electricians in my area
For that reason, and that reason alone Local companies do have to care about their employees. Because as soon as an employee Is unhappy they can immediately find another job
