Metric is still standard in the US due to the International System of Units (SI), it's just converted back to imperial. Check how a mile is measured. Americans are just using more steps to come to the same calculation. It makes using the metric system alone in Canada, impossible. Most of our lumber and building products are measured in imperial due to our proximity to the US and all the finish manufacturers in the US. "The statute mile was standardised between the Commonwealth of Nations and the United States by an international agreement in 1959, when it was formally redefined with respect to SI units as exactly 1,609.344 metres."

Metric is the standard and all other system are just conversion rates. Every time you do 2" + 3" you are actually doing (2 * 25.4mm) + (3 * 25.4mm) = 5 * 25.4mm.

Let me guess, your "Football", the one actually played with hands, is the "standard" as well? Tell me you are from the US without telling me you are from the US I guess?

In America, your metric and we're standard and you all drive on the wrong side of the road. We're imperialists
