+15 So many people will refuse to donate to charity, yet buy charity raffle tickets, only doing so because they want to get something in return. amirite?

A lot of money that goes overseas is spent here in America to build missiles or make vaccines and medicine or grow food, then the product is sent overseas, sure some straight money goes, but a lot is spent here giving Americans jobs. I think around 1/3 of that 47 billion to Ukraine was spent here in America. Also many people donate, they just don't make a big show of it, they send a check to a charity of their choice, just because someone hits no they don't want to donate at the grocery store doesn't mean they don't give somewhere else.

Look, it's more important we get money in the hands of people doing good things. If you have to put a potential return incentive on that to get the donations, fine by me. It's fine and good to want people to be truly selflessly charitable but humanity by and large just doesn't work that way.

I'll donate to charities where the money actually goes to the cause. If it's one I don't know, I won't donate until I research it a bit But I've also never bought a raffle ticket either so
