+46 All kindergarten classes should have a day where the children are brought before a small group of trusted adults and asked if they have ever seen one parent hit another parent. amirite?

Teacher are (or should be) trained to recognise the signs of this in the childs behaviour at school. Should things arise they have (or should have) powers to raise concerns with proper channels. Bringing in these questions to kids where there's no need to isn't necessary.

We are trained as teachers to recognize the signs of child/domestic violence. The idea of questioning kids could be disastrous. Kids are clever "step mom hits "me/dad" or "step dad hits mom/me" could turn into Salem which hunts real quick.

It's unpopular because it's bad.

Teachers are trained to recognize these signs already.. This is just a terrible opinion over all. Alot of children that young may not even know or understand these types of questions to answer them correctly.

and then... what ? What should they do if a child say "Yeah, my parent beat my other parent all the time" ? They can call the police, but for what ? Is a victim of domestic abuse is not ready to press charges, they won't. And the school cannot do that for them.

And you put the child at horrible risk, may e if the kid really does see abuse, parent knows school is on to them and pulls the child to home school. Or child receives the abuse. More ways it can go wrong than right.
