Graveyards are a waste of space and resources, amirite?
by wilfrid331 month ago
Graveyards are for living residents. Its not like the dead can feel anything. Its purely a ritual for the living.

Grave yards, like funerals, are for the living.

Interestingly, this can be said about most human activities. Tattoo shops come to mind: utterly senseless and without value. But people do what they like. It's not like life will change measurably if we convert all the graveyards to strip malls.

Golf courses come to mind
by Anonymous1 month ago
Some people don't like baseball and a bb field takes up a lot space. You can go on and on about this
by Anonymous1 month ago
Turn every full-size Golf Course into a MASSIVE graveyard.
by Anonymous1 month ago
Have them be together..out of bounds is gravestones..mayhe have a backboard on the green which is a row of gravestones
by Anonymous1 month ago
That's a great idea...sort of. Sometimes I feel like graveyards are meant to be quiet places and I don't want someone yelling "FORE!!!!" when I visit my dead grandma
by Anonymous1 month ago
Nice green space in cities
by Anonymous1 month ago
This is why I think cremation makes a lot more sense.
by elzastehr1 month ago
Yeah this is good! Just deep enough lol
by Lschaden1 month ago
Why not? They dead.
by xkunze1 month ago
Isn't that what we do already? It's just inside of a box
by wilfrid331 month ago
I'm down for that
by wilfrid331 month ago
I don't like to look in mirrors what I see frightens me
by wilfrid331 month ago
If we combined graveyards with golf courses, we'd have half the wasted space of each.
by Acceptable_Honey_7511 month ago
There's an idea.. and then the families can pay to have the holes dedicated to their loved ones. That way their name will live on forever and people are actually enjoy going there
by wilfrid331 month ago
While I agree in principle, the space it uses is nothing compared to say, car parks, which are a massive waste of space and resources and also bad for the environment, as well as being ugly.

I love graveyards. They are cool, kinda creepy, nice gardens, and quiet. If we need to figure out a better system, we will.
by Vernmohr1 month ago
Plus free food right? Assuming you're a maggot.
by wilfrid331 month ago
Or a cannibal.
by jerome771 month ago
You definitely will work up an appetite. Trying to dig up those bodies
by wilfrid331 month ago
"Will work for food"
by jerome771 month ago
Agreed. Land should be for the living.

I never want to be buried in a grave yard for this reason. I'd rather be cremated and thrown into the ocean or wind or under a pretty tree. Don't put my name on a plaque that no one will ever read.
by Lschaden1 month ago
Cremation is the logical way to leave this world...
by Maureenjacobson1 month ago
Should just bury them and plant a tree
by Garnettgaylord1 month ago
genius, on each tree has a name tag or picture and that's perfect
by Anonymous1 month ago
What do you suggest we put decomposing bodies? They have to go somewhere.
by FreeAbbreviations1 month ago
Cremate them or donate them to science
by Anonymous1 month ago
🔥🔥🔥
by wilfrid331 month ago
We should just flay people and let maggots return them to the soil.
by Anonymous1 month ago
Apparently, you've never been on an airplane. There is more space in this world than most people (especially people living in cities) can comprehend.
by shaniadonnelly1 month ago
It's for living ppl to mourn and remember the ones that passed away. Basically a place for ppl to cope.. Just like religious buildings.
by Anonymous1 month ago
How often do people actually go to gravesites? Maybe once a year ? If that. You could easily do that anywhere. What's the difference?
by wilfrid331 month ago
Could not agree more, should just burn the dead.
by bogansammie1 month ago
Graveyards are for the living, not the dead. Well not exclusively the dead.
by Prize_Championship1 month ago
So where do you propose goths do their photoshoots, then?
by StatisticianKooky1691 month ago
The city morgue
by wilfrid331 month ago
Where do you live that space is at such a premium that you want to do away with graveyards? If nothing else they offer greenery and open space in cities. Usually have beautiful mature trees, and typically have walking trails or can be walked through. But let's replace them with car parks and strip malls that are filed with empty shops
by Anonymous1 month ago
At least that generates jobs and tax money
by wilfrid331 month ago
Burying is gross and current practices are terrible for the environment too.
by Anonymous1 month ago
Go tell your mother you are only leaving her in the ground during the ceremony then it's off to the kiln with her.
by reanna161 month ago
Graveyards are natural habitat for goth girls, without graveyards they will become extinct.
by Luciemaggio1 month ago
Let's just demolish any building that isn't a farm or grocer while we're at it
by terrycasey1 month ago
Al Czernik, is that you?

Moreover, if we wanted corpses to go back to hearth, we should not be surround them with clothes and varnished wood coffin, sometime in a stone tomb... It could had a sense when we where just few specimen on Earth, when we had to remember some fierce ancestors, but now we are too invasive to let so much space to our deads...
by Brekkenoemy1 month ago
On the contrary, i would like to have pyramids built for my death.
by xkunze1 month ago
ok but you will be sit ON the pyramid.
by Brekkenoemy1 month ago
Yup. I would fully support bulldozing old graveyards.
