+38 Ice spice makes terrible music and I don't understand why people like her so much, amirite?

by metzdelaney 1 year ago

Many people today make music not with the intention of making good music but instead making music that will go viral and be a trending audio on TikTok. Ice Spice may be one of those people.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

The problem isn't that these types of people exist. The problem is that the general public incentivizes them to. With no one to consume trash, creating trash wouldn't be incentivized. But, instead, people somehow create a brand loyalty around people. No matter what someone who is in the spotlight produces, there will be people who conflate celebrity with significance and continue to consume their detritus as if it's delicious. And the rest of us have to suffer their existence. Ain't life a bitch.

by No-Design 1 year ago

Or maybe the trashy art from years age simply faded into obscurity. While we are changing culturally, it's incredibly doomist to act like all of human culture is degrading.

by Outside-King 1 year ago

do people know they can just not listen to music they don't enjoy?

by Appropriate-Fly 1 year ago

Problem is it's played everywhere so you have to suffer it if you go outside your property.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

You know you have a pretty damn good privileged life when hearing a song you don't like publicly is "suffering".

by Omiller 1 year ago

Boomer yells at cloud moment Kids these days don't listen to the right types of music gah damn it. They should only be forced to listen to things I listened to back in the day.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Who even is she? I have no clue who you people are talking about.

by weimannmadalyn 1 year ago

It felt like her rise was kinda astroturfed. I feel it was much more knowing the right people behind the scenes rather than her initial talent

by Holliebaumbach 1 year ago

Well yeah. She didn't tour or earn her fans or anything. There's only one way you get famous without actually going out and working really hard as a musician. It's because you're the latest flavor of ice cream that the record company focus group decided would be profitable with their target demographic.

by Personal_Ad4261 1 year ago

Or your song blows up on tik tok. Its not that deep.

by Individual-Self 1 year ago

Pop music in a nutshell.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Nope. I followed her from <5k followers when she was releasing homemade music videos with Kingdome Hearts samples and everyone was calling it garbage until one day they weren't. That's just how it goes sometimes

by Anonymous 1 year ago

You know how them industry plants be

by Temporary_Stable 1 year ago

I don't think people do like her that much. She just looked enough like Cardi B and Minaj to get the job. She's the booty of the month

by Personal_Ad4261 1 year ago

This is the truth.

by mustafa42 1 year ago

and sexxy red...I wonder if they're on competing labels

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Oh god I've only heard a couple of her songs but she has a really hard time rapping to the beat

by Double-Classroom9784 1 year ago

they have different markets lol

by Berniergaetano 1 year ago

this is not true, she's friends with taylor swift, visited kim k's kids, and extremely popular on social media

by Berniergaetano 1 year ago

My fav was jack harlow. Bro suddenly showed up in every corner of social media then he dropped an album and it was trash lmaoo

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Y'all pmo. Jack Harlow is not an industry plant. Words have meaning, he's been rapping and making music since high school. And he has like 4 eps pre his debut album. he had label attention on him in his early twenties but he wanted to create more music before signing on.

by jenkinsalba 1 year ago

Such an overused term.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I don't think they understand what that term even means. I'm from the Bronx and she grew from the drill scene here. What aspect would make her an industry plant?

by jacobsonpiper 1 year ago

The part where I don't like her so clearly no one else does. Damn record labels.

by Designer-Parfait-407 1 year ago

Industry plant and I'm pretty sure she has family in the music business She was suddenly everywhere with little build up and is now playing the biggest festivals in the world. When you watch her live performances you can see how inexperienced she is with such large crowds

by hammesalexys 1 year ago

Yeah, I'm skeptical of anybody who didn't have to build a boots on the ground fan base and pay their dues before they got outlandishly famous. I've done the band thing. It's f****** hard and it takes forever

by Personal_Ad4261 1 year ago

100%, I hate when record labels push artists onto us. It's almost as if they're saying "THIS is what you have to like now"

by hammesalexys 1 year ago

…further corroborating the claim that she is an industry plant.

by StayOk1156 1 year ago

So everyone hated her until they just one day decided to wake up and change their mind, with no outsider help or influence?

by StayOk1156 1 year ago

Men would hyper sexualize her. They'd hype her looks. Women would say things such as "she makes girl music.. her music is fun. You guys hate fun things" it was a meme to like her music then people started unironically liking her music. She released a catchy song, she twerked in the video and got a bunch of traction because she had finally released a "good song." This is literally what happened in the beginning. I saw it happen in real time. Then she grabbed Drake's attention, but something happened after their meeting, he unfollowed her and obviously her status became even higher.

by jenkinsalba 1 year ago

it's insane that it's so hard for people to understand

by Berniergaetano 1 year ago

That's what hit songs do

by jacobsonpiper 1 year ago

I don't remember that Spice Girl... Get off my lawn!

by Stevie98 1 year ago

She was the 2nd youngest before Pumpkins Spice

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Which one was Old Spice?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

She was Allspice's mom.

A "certain demographic" being teenage white girls?

by Ecstatic_Pay 1 year ago

by Odd-Assumption-7721 1 year ago

I hate that some of dunkin's drinks are named after these nobody influencers

by Gutkowskihailee 1 year ago

Nobody? You can think her music is bad, but she still has almost 25 million monthly listeners.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Popularity doesn't mean quality

by Zestyclose_Health989 1 year ago

I literally say they can think her music is bad, but theyre not making a point about quality, theyre calling her a nobody.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I can believe that there are 25 million stupid people in the world.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

That's a highly conservative number.

by Worried-Knee 1 year ago

You deserve it for giving dunkin donuts any amount of money tbh

by Anonymous 1 year ago

why

by Anonymous 1 year ago

The worst part of that fart line is that it isnt original. It has been used many ways in raps decades before her

by Anonymous 1 year ago

You not even the fart

by rolfsontomasa 1 year ago

Pop star makes terrible music and I don't understand why people like them so much Fascinating opinion 10/10 very original

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Most of the female rappers people like are for sex appeal that's bout it

by Anonymous 1 year ago

This might be a reach but I don't think ice spice would be as popular if she was dark-skinned

by Far-Training-8440 1 year ago

Sad, but not a reach. Colorism is definitely real.

by Dismal-Second-3205 1 year ago

how does that work when most of their fanbases are women

by KitchenStunning4939 1 year ago

If you find trashy appealing.

by Personal_Ad4261 1 year ago

You'd be surprised by the number of people whose standard is "she can twerk, so I like her."

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Apparently people do because she pretty huge

by Anonymous 1 year ago

She ain't even attractive

by Broad_Impress6120 1 year ago

But she doesn't have any of that either. She's really unattractive.

by anabelprice 1 year ago

Its low effort but its catchy thats why people like it. Also that fart song was not meant to be taken seriously.

by Lewisboyer 1 year ago

she sounds like a teenager on Soundcloud talk-rapping on a free backbeat from youtube. are the catchy songs in the room with us?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

The thing that I don't get...the lil orphan Annie haircut. What's up with that?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I think it's cute. Her music sucks, but I dig her style

by Lonely_Praline7978 1 year ago

Am I the only one who doesn't know who Ice Spice is?

by Fannielindgren 1 year ago

She literally has a Dunkin' Donuts drink, and an add for it with BEN AFLECK. song in the Barbie movie.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Lightskin with ass, its the meta

by Realistic-Debate5627 1 year ago

That line should have been just that, one line in a song, then it would have been pretty funny . But they made an entire song around that one verse which sucks all the fun out of it and makes it lame and dumb.

by Greenjettie 1 year ago

Okay, you the king. Burger King.

by Ok_Drummer 1 year ago

BARS🔥🔥🔥

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Securing the $ isn't all that matters though and that mindset is why hip hop is mostly garbage now days, the art is all that matters.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

She was on stage twerking for a whole 30minutes while rapping.

by strosinkory 1 year ago

Music for low IQ listeners.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I mean if she chilled out with the clown hair, and had a less ‘deer in the headlights' face, I could see it. Then again, that might as well be half of the person at that point, so in no world is she more than a 6/10. Yeah, maybe I need whatever OP is on, too.

by marianna64 1 year ago

No no. The clown hair is what separates her from Nicki Minaj and cardi B, That's her trademark, and perhaps the most creative thing about her.

by Personal_Ad4261 1 year ago

What's an ice spice?

by BitterSpare 1 year ago

The only like her because of her "gyatt"

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Grrra Grrra

by Anonymous 1 year ago

It's art, some love Picasso and hate Jackson Pollack. Ice Spice is jackson pollack

by Anonymous 1 year ago

ok dork

by Rjast 1 year ago

Idk man, I love the beats she uses and kinda like the WAY she raps, as I don't really care for lyrics there unless they're REALLY bad or REALLY good. Therefore, imo some of her songs are lowkey gas

by Top_Possibility 1 year ago

I don't know who this person is, but that line sounds hilarious in the dumbest way possible, so now I have to check it out. It was, in fact, not hilarious. I listened to a couple of songs, and I completely agree with you.

by Trick-Insurance 1 year ago

She got dat 🍑

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Never listened to her music but she had a fine ass

by RatioOnly6219 1 year ago

Lol and when people compared her to princess diana because apparently she's so kind. And now people realizing she moves mad weird

by Royal-Log 1 year ago

Ice Spice literally gained popularity for being a bad rapper, nobody is praising her for being the most talented artist in the industry

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Ice spice raps like she has untreated mental illnesses. I think adhd in rap has been well researched. She falls into that category.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

She catchy to me lol

by gudruncronin 1 year ago

I've never listened to an ice spice song. The "you're not even the fart line" i found funny tbh.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Never heard of her.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Good…one less thing to waste time on…oh you already did

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Hey, complaining isn't a waste of time if you enjoy doing it

by Personal_Ad4261 1 year ago

Industry plant, light skinned, can throw it back, and make catchy TikTok sound bites. She is at the right level of success and downfall is pleasant welcome.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

She's pretty?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Cuz it makes good tik tok sound clips.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

noname is the real mvp female rapper

by Equivalent_Arm_8885 1 year ago

I feel like my taste in rap and what is currently popular rap music diverged around 2005. It is not that there is no good rap music anymore. It's just that most of what is popular just sounds like garbage to me. The only time I've heard Ice Spice's music was on SNL, but she definitely falls into that category. She is sexy though.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Who?

by United_Aside 1 year ago

Don't listen to her. Not sure what she even looks it sounds like and tbh I think I'm better off

by Anonymous 1 year ago

This isnt unpopular

by Apprehensive_Gold 1 year ago

Whenever I think of Ice spice i think of some sort of Latte drink like coffee.

by bonnie35 1 year ago

I agree about that line. The song/beat itself is so good but that line just causes me pain.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

This is an unpopular opinion…

by Anonymous 1 year ago

C'mon man, rap has been terrible for a decade plus, welcome to 2024 lol

by LongInternational926 1 year ago

I think a lot of people just like her look

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I like to watch her music videos on mute if you know what I mean

by Latter-Rabbit 1 year ago

Sokka-Haiku by Ok-Injury7948: I like to watch her Music videos on mute If you know what I mean Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Because she's an instant erection.

by kihnmorgan 1 year ago

Our society is full of like minded degenerates? I'd be more surprised if she wasn't popular. Same with Sexy Red.

by vkoss 1 year ago

She's cute. Prefer Snow tha Product

by Anonymous 1 year ago

She's not pretty

by Anonymous 1 year ago

People don't know what they like anymore. They just know what's most hyped in the moment.

by Tasty-Course 1 year ago

Never listened to the music but not surprised. My main take away whenever I see her is, "wait isn't she supposed to be attractive or something?" Probably just not my cup of tea but still

by Anonymous 1 year ago

That's an issue with her producer, not her. I used to think the same but then I heard her vocals on a different beat and it actually sounded good

by Anonymous 1 year ago

TikTok.

by jaquelinkeebler 1 year ago

She is attractive and has a big butt. That trumps talent

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I hate to say this but she's simply another mediocre female rapper with an amazing ass. She also has no problem showing off this amazing ass and that's why she's popular. There are female rappers who are legitimate poets but they get no attention because they don't necessarily have amazing bodies and they don't sexualize themselves. This isn't coming from some puritanical place, I don't care one way or the other what people choose to do with their bodies, but it's clear the music industry doesn't value the lyricism of female rappers.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Ok but dat ass tho

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Biracial butt. That's literally it.

by izaiahthompson 1 year ago

Because she's fun. Not that complicated.

by Quiet_Grapefruit 1 year ago

Ass.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

yeah, she's pretty That's the whole thing, right there.

by laurettacrooks 1 year ago

We can all thank Nick Mullen

by Crafty-Bass 1 year ago

Is she a spice girl? I've never heard of ice spice.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Nah, there's soo much worse than her. Not a fan personally, but she gets a pass when people far less talented do

by Anonymous 1 year ago

lol. I dunno I think that fart line is Better than Taylor swifts taking shots at me like patron. Makes me cringe when I hear it.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I've never heard her music but she makes a great drink at Panera bread

by Anonymous 1 year ago

It's mostly her ass i think

by Evalyn52 1 year ago

NPC music ngl

by Anonymous 1 year ago

She's an industry plant

by fgoldner 1 year ago

What an artist looks like has literally nothing to do with their music, agree with everything else though.

by Hopeful_Spread 1 year ago

"Sexy Redd has entered the chat"

by Objective-Ad2849 1 year ago

she represents a part of the culture and an aspirational lifestyle, the music is an element of it but no part of it stands on its own

by Feisty-Revolution 1 year ago

She is the most obvious argument for an industry plant I think I've ever seen

by Anonymous 1 year ago

shes also not hot. at all.

by jgerlach 1 year ago

She's an industry plant and "everyone" likes her because people like anything that the media pushes

by AirportEvening 1 year ago

Who is Ice Spice? Is she, like, the long lost 6th Spice Girl?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I think it's pretty cool how she doesn't let her disability get in the way of making music

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I think she has potential but plays her stuff too safe. Like munch isn't god awful but practically almost all of her music is kinda like background music. She should really start experimenting more. I liked her in that one song with pink pantress.

by FastProfessional3331 1 year ago

Since when was there a sixth spice girl?!

by Chanelle08 1 year ago

she has weird but unique look. she is willing to shake ass and leans into her sexuality. she is unproblematic unlike the scores of other women who have come up.

by Anonymous 1 year ago
