-30 Touch screen soda machines are the worst invention the restaurant industry has come up with, amirite?

Lime Coke is the bomb, fight me.

Cherry vanilla, bruv

by Wisozkvelva 4 weeks ago

Cherry lime root beer

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

oh man, cherry lime coke? that's like asking for a peanut butter and tuna sandwich. some things just don't mix well... but hey, to each their own soda catastrophe!

by Competitive_Pea7303 4 weeks ago

my dude have you honestly never heard of cherry limeade before

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Not the person you asked, but i certainly havent. Idk if i could even find regular limeade lol

by kilbackjuana 4 weeks ago

Wont fight you, but please just wait until I get my regular coke first 🥺

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Lemon Coke gang

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Lemon coke is ok. But Pepsi Twist did it better.

by Joannyleuschke 4 weeks ago

About to try this next time I go to the theater Also, Strawberry cream soda is GOATed

by Available_Star 4 weeks ago

I got vanilla Sprite once to see if it was a good idea. It was not.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Peach Fanta bangin

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I think it could be good. But those things being squirted into your cup are leaving an important vacancy at a land fill.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

That's like one of my go-to's lmao

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Me and my kids make crazy, mixed up drinks and make the others guess what we used. Other than entertainment value those machines suck.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Well I mean, everything has its own bag in box. The flavorings are separate containers. The machine just mixes whatever you press.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Not on the front end, but the difference between the touch screen concentrate carts and the age old boxes/bags of syrup is about the only loss of labor for food service workers in like the last decade. Now if the savings for the business would somehow make it to the price of the cup...

by Long-Independence244 4 weeks ago

I full agree. Besides always tasting horrible you need to stand behind people who have never left their house before as they try and make too many choices, then dont hit the screen hard enough, or dont realize they need to push the physical button after making their selections. It's like being stuck behind someone writing a check writing a check at the grocery store. Just give me a fountain where if you arent getting flavors that are right next to each other multiple people can use it at the same time.

by lori62 4 weeks ago

I think they're great except for the fact that they were introduced right before the service industry decided to not staff anyone anymore, so they're constantly out of order or empty in a lot of places.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Cleanliness is an issue with all soda fountains. That's not unique to the Freestyle machines

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Yeah probably. But the flip side is I've never gotten sick or known someone who got sick from a soda fountain. So I'm gonna keep using them

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I'm on board with you, in that I'm going to keep using them… but I often wonder how people do "know" what got them sick. I wake up with a stomach ache. Is it because of the Chinese food I ate last night, that I've eaten many times before with no issue, or was it something in the soda I picked up from the freestyle machine earlier in the day? Did I touch something and then touch my face? Is there a stomach bug going around? Like unless you live in a completely sterile environment and only introduce one thing at a time into your life with control groups and what not I don't see anyone can say "this thing got me sick". I will accept this for repeat offenders. Like there's a pizza place I absolutely love but it's obviously extremely greasy and I feel horrible after eating it. I choose not to eat it anymore except on the very rare occasion I crave nothing else, and I am willing to put up with stomach pain and some serious toilet time.

Soda guns at restaurants and bars have all the different sodas come out of one nozzle. You hate restaurants and bars too?

by Marisamiller 4 weeks ago

They don't think about that and they didn't see it and thus can't imagine whatever flavor they saw before in their drink. It's like the placebo effect. They think they will taste it so they probably do. Whatever Fanta fluid is left over in the nozzle is not going to be noticeable in a coke or whatever, especially if they "let it run" a bit like they claim. When I was a kid my brother "only" liked a certain brand of hotdog. They were more expensive and we were poor. My mom kept the wrapper from the more expensive hot dogs, washed it out, and she would leave it on the counter to show my brother whenever we had hot dogs. She bought the cheaper brand. He loved hot dogs.

by NoComposer 4 weeks ago

Of course he doesn't. He's just making up an excuse to bitch about the machines that he thinks are pointless.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Four different flavors come out of a single nozzle at Taco Bell. But I don't hear anyone complaining that Baja Blast tastes like Brisk iced tea.

by Rbecker 4 weeks ago

Vanilla cherry Dr. pepper all day long and vanilla strawberry fanta! I will die on my hill.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

That's what my girlfriend always says but I like my raspberry Vanilla Coke mixed with lemonade. Can't find that glorious beverage anywhere else

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I work on these machines and they are usually absolutely disgusting on the inside. Also the coke freestyle machine uses one base syrup and adds other flavors to it for cherry or lime or whatever. It's a different type of syrup that is clear. Plus it really is just too many choices........

by Wittingdeshaun 4 weeks ago

all I can think of when I see these machines are: a. was this screen really necessary? b. it looks like a dog licked the screen

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I love the concept, always get a little pep in my step when I see one, and have a few drinks that I couldn't get from theaters before that I enjoy. But I've got to say I agree that there's a slightly off taste, and the blends like cherry or vanilla coke never taste quite as good as the standard, non-freestyle versions of the products.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I couldn't get flavored seltzer before but now I can

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I mean obviously there's a taste difference for that product I'm sure, but isn't shooting flavoring syrup into seltzer literally just soda pop?

by NoComposer 4 weeks ago

I think the difference is you can leave out the HFCS or NNS and just have flavored seltzer instead of sweet soda.

by marcellaferry 4 weeks ago

But I mean… it's still soda pop. It's better soda pop based on preference (I would agree), but like by definition flavored syrup in soda water is just soda pop

by NoComposer 4 weeks ago

Run water through first before choosing a flavor. It has a drain for a reason

by Successful_Company 4 weeks ago

Nobody tastes the remnants. Multiple soda syrups have been pumped through one nozzle at pretty much every bar and restaurant for decades. It's in OPs head that anything tastes different.

by Marisamiller 4 weeks ago

I hate those machines. Considering how much they make us pay for a soda, you'd think they would be considerate of the quality.

by nkoelpin 4 weeks ago

what run down place are you eating at for soda machine drinks to taste so bad lol

by ProposalDowntown6881 4 weeks ago

The different flavors are cool But the touch screen is idiotic as hell

by mcglynnkian 4 weeks ago

Yep. We went from provide money and press a single button to an unnecessarily complex process.

by Dramatic_Squash 4 weeks ago

At least they have water as an option. I went to a Burger King and they didn't have water as an option. I had to ask the lady behind the counter. Her reply was a question. "You want water?"

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

It was cool at first when it was kind of rare to see those options in the grocery store. The novelty quickly wore off when I realized the drink didn't taste as good. Now I can't remember the last time I used one.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Honestly I wouldn't mind the machines if they just had some sort of auto-clean built in. I don't wanna touch some grubby ass screen that some ass-brained mouth-breather pawed at with his piss-stained fingers. Those things are bloody filthy.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Sounds like a skill issue

by Faustoebert 4 weeks ago

But peach sprite is lyfeee

by Ok-Can 4 weeks ago

Just run water before you choose what you want

by Usual_Union4776 4 weeks ago

You're just wrong tbh

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

So unpopular it might just be downright incorrect. Take my updoot and leave.

by Sudden-Ostrich8499 4 weeks ago

Every single time my dad uses it the button gets stuck and over fills the cup

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I'd love to see a blind taste test, because I have to think any residual soda from the previous pour would be extremely hard to detect when it's diluted into a full cup of soda. I'm not saying you're lying, but I'm saying it's likely a placebo effect of sorts where you expect it to taste off more than it actually tasting off. Also coke and Fanta is excellent, throw some sprite in too and give it a shot.

by ellendouglas 4 weeks ago

It also makes the line too long to get a drink when a place is busy. On the old style drink machines, as long as you weren't getting the same thing as someone else, two or three people could fill up at a time and be on their way.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I don't like these machines either. They just don't put enough syrup in the drink. They are watered down carbonated water in my opinion. I'm giving up soda anyway. I usually go for the unsweetened iced tea option.

by Minimum-Reading938 4 weeks ago

I agree - quality of these machines is terrible

by Inside_Ad_1576 4 weeks ago

Cherry sprite is incredible

by Euphoric_Parking 4 weeks ago

Be happy, a lot of countries never heard of aoda machines.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

They're absolutely awesome if you're blind, you've got o ask one of the staff who aren't there to help you.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

In my area I've literally only seen one of the pepsi machines at one particular restaurant. Every other restaurant is dominated by coke. Hell, I could probably count on one hand the places that even serve pepsi products let alone have one of the machines. I agree though. It is a better experience for whatever reason.

by Complete_Coyote 4 weeks ago

They all have a very distinct after taste that is the same no matter what drink or flavor add-on you get. And it's not a good taste. I never considered this could be because the nozzle, but that does make sense. I still think it's possible it's just the low quality of the syrup. Maybe those machines use a specific supplier that just isn't good.

by Think_Ad 4 weeks ago

Peach sprite

by Fit_Roof_5025 4 weeks ago

"soda machine" and "restaurant" don't fit in the same sentence to me. I don't use them because I don't get fast food but I doubt touch screens are the worst thing fast food chains have come up with.

by Far-Knowledge-6066 4 weeks ago

Literally solves 0 problems and creates many.

by Infinite_Purpose_785 4 weeks ago

And the screens look like a kid blew their nose on it. I swear we're going backwards. Didn't lid and straw dispensers exist!? Now they're just thrown loose in a bin for people to rummage through with their dirty hands

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Also, how often do you think they're cleaned.... 🤮
