That's a pretty low bar for the definition of child abuse.

It is illegal to not send your child to some form of school or education program with lessons and curriculum that's approved by the government. Not focusing on developing well-rounded individuals but instead only on academics is a misstep on the part of regulations.

Yeah like I understand in some special contexts but I wish they weren't so common. Not to say school is the real world but im just saying that most of the real world isn't gender segregated and it may make these pupils uncomfortable or weirded out once they graduate as it may be something they are not familiar with. Also again not saying that mixed schools are a beacon of light in regards to proper talks about sex education and your body but I haven't heard these schools be good either to put it lightly

the repercussions that they focus more on schoolwork and sports rather than accidentally knocking up their 14 year old girlfriend

Don't worry, they can do that after hours.

I don't know about child abuse but that's certainly very damaging to their personal growth. I've seen friends develop misogynistic views about women and girls because of such segregation.

So far the replies seem to focus on how this will negatively impact boys I.e. not learning how to behave around members of the opposite sex. No consideration is being given to girls here. Sexual harassment is through the roof in mixed-sex secondary schools (at least here in the UK). Providing learning opportunities for girls free from sexual harassment is surely a good thing?
