all the conservative people i know don't follow any religion. but ok.

Thats kind of a fair point, that is to say when i was in the military i met several which were conservative but not especially engaged within a faith..... That being said, id still say it was about half that were atleast in part non-religious and other half complete wingnut religious dogma is all that matters conservative.... That being said, i havent met a single person that considers themselves "conservative" and the conservative party did anything to give them what they want EXCEPT for the religious zealots, if youre conservative because of your fear of a debt cliff, i have 40 years of beligerant handouts to the rich we need to discuss....

Yes, the people who don't live in reality and don't care about if something is true or not will rely on a book that reinforces this.

They don't actually believe the Bible. They just cherry pick and take verses out of context to support their narrative.

by luciousdoyle 7 months ago

Pffft. Most of them haven't read the Bible, and would be outraged at that pinko never-married commie's ideas if you didn't tell them that they came from Jesus. They just blindly belief their false prophets and sowers of discord and hate.

This is just straight up ignorance. The scientific revolution was started and funded by the Catholic church specifically because a better understanding of science benefits the church. Most famous scientists and mathmaticians have been some sort of Christian.

Crazy concept for you, but you know you can, I don't know believe in the Bible while at the same time asking questions and seeking to learn about other belief systems as well as to be a student of science? Crazy, I know. ‘Magas' isn't a thing, I don't even know what that is, but as someone in the middle I think it's sinister how normalized it's becoming to literally dehumanize anyone who has a different opinion to your own in this day and age.

Members of the church were influential in pretty much all of those scientific fields, and discovering the complexity and beauty of our world doesn't invalidate the existence of God.
