+38 People should be able to wear what they want to the gym. amirite?

I saw a dude working out in dress pants and shoes and a tshirt once. thats right bro, get that workout in.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

There's a guy at my gym that i regularly seeing working out in a turtleneck, dress pants, and penny loafers.

by Stokeskaren 1 week ago

Saw a dude in jeans once. Ew!

by Whole-Plenty 1 week ago

😂 But… but… its hot and uncomfortable

by Whole-Plenty 1 week ago

Hey man. He squats more than the rest of the gym with proper depth in jeans. I'm not gonna argue with him. He's lord Farquad

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Ha! Fair enough

by Whole-Plenty 1 week ago

Presumably not in skinny jeans.

by homenickmoses 1 week ago

🤣

by Howardcorkery 1 week ago

I used to workout in jeans because I'd drop my kid off at the YMCA daycare and pop in before work. I always skip leg day.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Gains wait for no one

by Electronic_Sweet1073 1 week ago

pretty sure that's just terminally online discourse, i could never imagine a real life human being walking up to someone like "put those yoga pants away you're giving me a boner"

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Even online, I've never seen men complain about women dressing sexy at the gym. If anything, they love it. The only thing I've seen online is men complaining about women who are complaining about men looking at them in the gym lol.

by Fun-Experience-2385 1 week ago

Its natural for animals and people with situational awareness to walk into a room, take a head count, and decide if the room is safe or dangerous.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

To be fair I did just two hours ago see a man complaining about women dressing "sexy" at the gym because it is too tempting for him as a Christian man

by josianelockman 1 week ago

That's why I prefer to exercise at home.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Wear what you want, it's the other people that have to deal with themselves. It's simple, the gym is a place to exercise. I make it my goal not to acknowledge your existence during that time, I hope you do the same.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

You do you, I'm kinda glad others just acknowledge that I exist.

by homenickmoses 1 week ago

Not unpopular and from my experience in the gym also not an issue that exists outside of the internet.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Disagree, there's a limit somewhere because it's still a public place, so you shouldn't wear disgusting filthy smelly rags or something like a shirt with a racist slogan. But pretty much any standard sportswear design is fair game. Just don't turn the gym into your Tiktok studio or intentionally push limits then get upset at people not acting like it's normal and you're good.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I can't even stare at myself in the mirror I get embarrassed

by Anonymous 1 week ago

People judge their own looks way too harshly sometimes. I think more commonly than overvaluing their own looks.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

No she means she should be able to wear tight shorts without getting stared at by straight dudes lol

by narciso82 1 week ago

I like to wear ridiculous shirts. I've apparently had complaints about them to the gym staff. I'm okay with people being offended by my silliness. Nothing racist or political.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Yeah I was going to say, I don't really see why anything that woulden't be acceptable out in the public, would be acceptable in a gym.

by Objective_Stable 1 week ago

Ya people shouldn't record

by Anonymous 1 week ago

This. Women be half naked at the gym and then throw a fit if anyone looks in their direction, it's ridiculous.

by Wise-Aioli5877 1 week ago

"You don't own my eyes"

by homenickmoses 1 week ago

Routeans. The word is routines.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

My question is why do people need to look their best at the gym? Your there to workout, not to get attention

by Realistic-Device 1 week ago

Oh there is no doubt a lot of people are there for attention.

by Wise-Aioli5877 1 week ago

Honestly I'm not nearly confident enough to go out without putting any effort into my appearance unless it's something super urgent. I didn't even consider working out in public until I was a couple months into it bc I was so anxious about being perceived/looking stupid, wearing a cute workout set/light makeup I feel like I at least LOOK like I know what I'm doing 😭

by Qturner 1 week ago

I would go right after work I was always fixed up because I worked on commissions and always wanted to look my best. I'd go straight from work to the gym and keep workout clothes in my car. It felt totally unnecessary to take all of my makeup off.

by Fabulous_Tea 1 week ago

I feel bad when I'm crusty looking but when I look good I do better

by Anonymous 1 week ago

clearly, some people go for the attention

by Anonymous 1 week ago

It is true that some narcissists go to the gym for attention...and sometimes those narcissists make a big fuss, by opening up their TikTok or Instagram and stuff..and then they record themselves in the gym while they work out...because they want to seek attention.

by Vilma20 1 week ago

some people don't go anywhere else apart from the gym and work

by Ok-Example 1 week ago

It's not about looking your best. It's about being comfortable and being left alone

by Anonymous 1 week ago

If doing so motivates them, have at it.

by homenickmoses 1 week ago

Us dudes are gonna wanna take a look. Guys like boobs and butts. I never saw a problem with leggings or yoga pants, it's those weird leggings that's like purposefully to expose your cheeks and give you wedgies , or sports bras that are really just bras ( have deadass seen a girl wearing a plain old bra lmao), but at the end of the day as long as you aren't trying to seduce me ( like bending over close to me or alike nature, not comfortable) I could care less about whatever anyone wears. I may judge silently in my head ( this go for dudes too some of yall dress like cornballs) but everyone's a little judgmental.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

We should bring back naked Olympics like ancient Greece. Nobody would complain about the gym again.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I think, like all private establishments, gyms can introduce dress codes that meet their needs. I personally think that ~90% of people will dress appropriately without a dress code but there is some value in introducing a dress code.

by Ordinary-Economist 1 week ago

I think technically the gym I go to bans spaghetti straps but I've never seen anyone care

by Jeniferreynolds 1 week ago

I don't care what anyone wears except, and not to be rude or shaming-if you a very sweaty person-I wish you'd wear thicker clothes that didn't become transparent and leave sweat slicks.

by pearlie60 1 week ago

And if you do leave sweat, use the courtesy cleaner after you're done. I'm gonna wipe it down beforehand anyway but I also wipe down after whether there's visible sweat or not. I'll likely skip a machine if there's a puddle I've gotta clean first.

by Large-Respect 1 week ago

The thicker clothes make the sweat worse..

by Anonymous 1 week ago

But they absorb more sweat. And they don't become transparent. No one want to see a strangers hairy belly or under boob triangles. Or the crotch/butt crack.

by pearlie60 1 week ago

Wonder how long this view would hold up to fat dudes wearing banana hammocks? I wonder if really tight and obvious penis bulges bouncing around would be cool for her?

by cooper32 1 week ago

next time I'll just come in butt ass naked

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Honestly sometimes I'll be walking in jeans and wish I could just walk in the gym and get on the treadmill for 20 mins, but I know people will possibly stone me

by Anonymous 1 week ago

You literally can. What men complain about is women wearing stuff like yoga pants solely for attention. Especially since filming somehow isn't banned, as if they even glance in her general direction for half a second she'll say how hw was staring at her and no justice will come of it save a Joey Swoll reaction. You're so terminally online it's sad.

by Gbrekke 1 week ago

Not just the gym, all public areas.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

All these people are saying the "problem" is people filming and harassing men for glancing. That doesn't happen in real life lol, you wear what you want and you'll get the occasional ogler or self righteous asshole but the average person doesn't care.

by Tricky_Mall 1 week ago

I just don't understand why some girls feel like wearing as little as humanly possible. Men can wear a shirt and pants, why can't you? I really don't care but it's curious. Do they get off sporting in a bra, with as much exposed skin and skintight pants as possible? Do what you want, but sexualizing everything and then complaining you get stares is odd.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

It's a combination of attention seeking behavior, bad parenting, insecurity and thinking that it's trendy.

by handjennie 1 week ago

it's too hot in a tshirt too, probably works for people that don't train hard enough there.

by Ok-Example 1 week ago

That's exactly what I was thinking. I was like, who works out comfortably in a t-shirt for long? At least I know I can't, cause the way I like to work out, I'd pass out lol

by DescriptionLumpy 1 week ago

And what about the girlies who wear shirts with the skintight pants??? Is it still for attention or is it for comfortability, since the shirt is probably long enough to cover the skintight pants anyways? Or what about. A sports bra with gym shorts???

by DescriptionLumpy 1 week ago

They should be able to wear whatever they want, and other people can think whatever they want about it.

by Known-Permission 1 week ago

Maybe enforce no photos or videos in gym.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Tru

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I've been going to gyms daily in multiple countries for >20years. Not once have I seen someone get upset at what someone else is wearing. I don't think anyone gives a/f except maybe the person who's trying to get a reaction.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Kind of like men/guys should get over if a dude wants to wear a Speedo to swim. You wouldn't believe how liberating a feeling it is, and all that extra cloth from swim shorts just gets in the way, drags you down, and so on. Outta the water, gym shorts (gray and revealing—because if women can flaunt, so can I) and a tank or t.

by Danvon 1 week ago

Nothing wrong with dress codes.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Socks and slides

by laron10 1 week ago

Nothing wrong with it. The upset is from when people dress revealing and are surprised that people look.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Please, please use some punctuation, reading that hurt. Who exactly complained that someone came to the gym with yoga pants?!

by Soberbrunner 1 week ago

Who has ever gotten upset about this? Mostly nobody cares

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Your opinion is not unpopular at all, and you contradicted yourself. What you said it, "people should be able to wear what they want, as long as they don't pass a certain line." That's everyone. The question is what the line should be.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I usually jog with a ski mask on. Thank you for validating me.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Aight I'm gonna wear extremely tight shorts next time I get in the gym, it's your problem if you get distracted by my schlong moving about. Just trynna look good so I can motivate myself to work out. They are gonna be so tight when you see it it will stare right back at ya, and if you say anything about it you are sexist

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I am a woman and I genuinely hate seeing some of the things other women wear to the gym. I don't need to see the outline of your lips or how far up your ass your shorts go. Sorry. I don't go looking for these outfits either. Sometimes I wonder if people aren't just painting their clothes on.

by Fthompson 1 week ago

Na that's not me

by Anonymous 1 week ago

The guys who get all uppity about women wearing yoga shorts/pants online, are the same guys who wear wife beaters and take shirtless pics in the gym. Everyone just needs to mind their own business lol.

by Extra_Plantain1321 1 week ago

ya no one cares about me wearing shorts like no one even looks at me but I'm also pretty not observant so

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not (genuinely). People will glance at attractive people. If they are staring or anything like that I'll happily call that person a creep.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I'm not being sarcastic

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Sounds good, sorry. Internet is hard lol.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

it's okay I don't understand it sometimes

by Anonymous 1 week ago

You should wear what you want the problem is creepy dudes staring at your "lady parts" I suppose

by narciso82 1 week ago

The ‘gym' is just an excuse for Exhibitionists to validate themselves. You don't need to achieve ‘goals' with people around.

by jordonhane 1 week ago

what? Can you pay for my home gym then plz

by Anonymous 1 week ago

you forgot pyjama pants and crocks.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I have worn pajamas but not crocs

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Can men have their boobs out?

by wrunolfsdottir 1 week ago

Can me have boob out?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Exactly

by wrunolfsdottir 1 week ago

He said women can't have their boobs out. I asked if men could

by wrunolfsdottir 1 week ago

I wish I could wear jeans to the gym, maybe I'd go more. I hate the texture of workout pants!

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I get this is for women and revealing clothing, but I disagree... in the context of men. In the winter I go to a YMCA because there is a ball court, and the old men in the fitness area wear the grossest stuff. Too short shorts with their balls almost flapping out, disintegrating undershirts, dirty knee socks. Then there are the guys working out in jeans, dress shoes, and other non-workout attire. Finally, there are also fully shirtless fat guys in the ball court... just shooting around, not in a shirt and skins game. It's not even hot in there. it's cold! I believe the Y should offer a standardized track suit for males and require them to wear it if they are unable to figure out reasonable attire on their own.

by Far-Amphibian-440 1 week ago

Are you that girl with your phone filming in the gym?

by Pcronin 1 week ago

You dont really dont know how men think if you think theyre getting upset. Sexually frustrated maybe

by Anonymous 1 week ago

smh sex isn't everything

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I was going to ask if that meant I could wear buttless chaps but you answered that in your first sentence.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Yeah, people should be allowed to wear basically whatever they want. No recording though please, I don't want to be in someone's video while I'm sweating my whole blood volume out. I wear bike shorts and a sports bra to the gym and it's pretty much fine - the occasional creep, but there always is no matter what I'm wearing. I do think that there is a limit to how revealing one should be though. Men, please don't take your shirts off. Women, please don't have your whole butt exposed. It just makes people uncomfortable and it's still a public place. I've only seen that latter example online though, and probably just for OF advertisements or something - I've never seen it in person. Men taking their shirts off however - put your damn shirt back on guy!

by hunterreynolds 1 week ago

The office building I worked in in DC had the "suit route" a grouping of low effort machines that could be used for 15 minutes.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I do that when I go gym, I'm self conscious about wearing joggers in public so I always wear jeans even at the gym, black karrimoor boots skinny jeans nd hoodie

by Anonymous 1 week ago

You're right that people should generally be able to wear what makes them comfortable and confident when they go to the gym. As long as individuals are mindful of their clothing choices and respectful of others and as long as the clothing is appropriate for the gym environment and not causing any discomfort or issues, there shouldn't be a problem with it.

by merlinmedhurst 1 week ago

Do you know what a private establishment is?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Is this supposed to be an unpopular opinion?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

If your gym has a dress code in their policies then you need to follow that or go to another gym. Besides that, wear what you want (within reason). As long as you clean up after yourself on equipment your body touches, you're fine.

by BetterOutcome9864 1 week ago

You contradict yourself on your opinion. People should wear what they want.... unless... What you are proving with your opinion is that everyone has a line that they don't want crossed. For some people they don't want to see people in bras, for others they just don't want underboob showing. Some people would be okay off everyone was naked. Some people think you should be wearing a burka. You can't say wear want you want except...

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I'm going to the gym in a full tux. Thanks for the encouragement

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I'd rather have clown dressed weightlifters Than weightlifter dressed clowns

by aronjast 1 week ago

i dont want to see guys with the shape of their willy carved out in their skintight pants either.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I agree with you. As long as people are not getting physically sexual when it comes to contact, and as long as there is no sexual harassment, and as long as there are protections put in place (e.g. CCTV cameras and security guards), then I have no problem...I think then that people can wear anything they want to wear in the gym. People go to the gym to work out...so as long as they are doing that, then they can wear whatever they want to wear. People dress in skimpy clothing in the beach, and nobody gets offended and says 'we should be fully covered up in the beach! People are going to look!', the same thing should apply to the gym.

by Vilma20 1 week ago

you are tho. You CAN wear whatever you want to the gym. Whether or not someone judges you is a different issue.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

You say that but my husband wants to wear JEANS to the gym. In my opinion that no one asked for that should be ILLEGAL.

by StrikingElevator9528 1 week ago

As long as you aren't leaving a sweat puddle on the machine, I couldn't care less. If a dudes so horny he can't focus because a chick is in a sports bra or yoga pants…I dunno what to tell you. Learn a little self control. JFC

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Literally never seen anyone get upset about other's appearance at the gym, including ignoring people practically naked.

by Admirable-Scene9979 1 week ago

Pretty sure no one cares. People just like to complain on the internet

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Wear what you want - just don't expect people not to notice/look

by Anonymous 1 week ago

People don't go to the gym to improve health they do it for social reasons. Never understood that

by gloverlauriane 1 week ago

There is a line that is drawn in everyone's mind as to what is acceptable. You yourself drew a line at no butt cheeks or books hanging out. That is still a line. The thing is everyone draws that line at a different place. Some people think it would okay to be naked everywhere. Some people draw the line farther back. What I think is really insane is how much we judge others for having a different opinion than us on where that line is.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

If the men are complaining, they should refer to the Bible. "If thy right eye offendth thee, pluck it out"

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I came straight from jury duty with dress pants and a button down. Jury duty went to wayyyy long

by Anonymous 1 week ago

As a girl who is attracted to other women, I genuinely don't understand why men get angry about women being scantily clad. Shouldn't you be happy about it? This is one of the good parts of life, my dude.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I'm a dude who's been going to the gym somewhat regularly for about 15 years. I've never heard a guy complain about women in spandex.

by Oscar17 1 week ago

I would prefer people to wear things in a public aetting

by Severe_Scheme_1486 1 week ago

And here I was ready to go to the gym in my mankini

by Efficient-Kale 1 week ago

Why do women feel they have to be so alluring in the gym. It's like they go there to hook up. Guys are all about what's sensible and comfortable

by Lumpy-Ad-7961 1 week ago

I like working out in flip flops

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Well yes and then others have the right to judge them and oogle/observe them

by Glittering-Gap 1 week ago

People can. However, other people also have the right to pass judgment on how you choose to present yourself to them.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

A gym should be able to have an attire standard too. Theres probably reasons why they do, like, I dunno, distraction? Its kinda like having a low sounding alarm in the background or blue light, right? Ppl go there to work out, if they wanna see certain parts of the body they can flip open google.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Ya business could have a dress code but I don't see how me wearing shorts is such a big distraction smh

by Anonymous 1 week ago

So you'd be fine if I wore my birthday suit?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Wouldn't your butt cheeks be out then?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Nothing at all. Nothing at all. Nothing at all!!!

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Do you actually think yoga pants are equivalent to being butt naked? Would you call the cops on a woman in yoga pants for public nudity?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

if your not my bf I don't wanna see you nakey

by Anonymous 1 week ago

yoga pants are fine, but if your wearing revealing clothes, then people are gonna look. if your upset that people are looking, you should not be in revealing clothes.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I think the problem is we're they get mad at someone for looking my motto in life to each there own

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I don't even notice that stuff

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Ya I've seen video of girls trying to call out dudes for looking, I'm red blooded male so if I see a nice looking female il snag a peak I try not to linger though. But whatever makes someone feel good about themselves more power to them

by Anonymous 1 week ago

People wear less to the beach and when swimming at the gym pools but it's an issue on equipment.

by vblanda 1 week ago

Ya exactly I usually wore a one piece but this year I'm going for something more cheeky lol

by Anonymous 1 week ago

People should wear whatever they want. People also shouldn't be offended if people look at them while they video the entire experience for internet points.

by Vicentaoreilly 1 week ago

I don't care what you wear but feel it's a bit hypocritical to be mad if I look in your direction. Also, when I can see your labia and yell if you've shaved, maybe it's a bit far.

by Acrobatic_Union3989 1 week ago

my cooter cat is not out dude

by Anonymous 1 week ago
