+32 It isn't wrong to call Scottish, Welsh, and Northern Irish people 'British', amirite?

Well, people from Northern Ireland aren't British, as Britain is a different island

The British Isle's include Ireland. Great Britain is just the largest island in the British Isles.

True. That does not mean people from Ireland (Northern or Republic of) are automatically "British." If you want to get down to the semantics of the name of the nation, it's "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland." The proper name of the nation specifically notes that there is a separation based on the islands in question. Irish people (and Scots and Welsh people for that matter) are perfectly correct in not accepting a homogenized British (read: English) identity as their de facto cultural identity based on what's stamped on the cover of a passport.

Britain is made up of England, Scotland, and Wales. Northern Ireland is not a part of Britain. However, they are all part of the United Kingdom. Its full name is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Northern Irish people are legally British. It says in (most) of their passports. British is a nationality, and an island.

I mean by that logic Canadians are just Americans…

Well, it seems OP means citizenship, so probably not quite the comparison I would make.

Technically yes they are British but ask anyone in those countries if they are the majority will say they're Scottish welsh or Irish.
