+25 If you are a competent adult, you should not need a case to keep you from breaking your phone, amirite?

by julianoconnell 1 week ago

Even competent adults have accidents...... nuff said.

by KindlyAide1033 1 week ago

I think I'm MORE likely to accidentally break it now than when i was younger. Aging sucks but it's better than the alternative.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

this is closer to delusional than an unpopular opinion but okay

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Yeah same thing for seatbelts in cars. People should be adult and drive carefully right? Also it's so cringy seeing all those people riding their motorcycles with those big helmets like they can't take care of their own life…. Those people…

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Have you never dropped something?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

While I know accidents do happen, in the nearly 18 years I have had a phone I have dropped them less than half a dozen times and only one time actually damaged the phone. If people didn't insist on having them in their hands every waking moment or sitting on their lap constantly (especially while driving), they would be less prone to dropping them.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Ok, but the one time you dropped the phone it costs like $150 if you want to fix the screen. You can get a case for like $10 and you're much less likely to damage the phone. Just because someone has a case doesn't mean they're constantly breaking phones. It's like a form of insurance.

"Actually it cost me $400" Nice own goal "A case likely would have done nothing to prevent the damage that happened though" Tons of cases are designed for exactly that sort of thing. Why did you pay for a Gorilla Glass, but also argue other measures to protect a phone are dumb? I'm tired... too much dumb to respond to it all...

by shaniehirthe 1 week ago

Nice own goal What? I was just pointing out that it actually cost me more lol. I wasn't happy about it and I wish it didn't happen, but also the phone was still completely functional and I didn't have to spend the money to get it fixed, I just chose to do it since I didn't want to look at the damage. Tons of cases are designed for exactly that sort of thing. Without a tempered glass screen protector (which I will not use), no case would have prevented what happened. I was there lol. Why did you pay for a Gorilla Glass, but also argue other measures to protect a phone are dumb? What? The phone's glass is Gorilla Glass, like almost every flagship phone made in the last 10+ years. I didn't say anything about a screen protector.

because disabilities dont exist and this totally doesnt infantilize people with shaky hands or weak grip, mmhmm.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Well I can't so I put a case on it. I am not a competent adult and never claimed to be. I would rather be safe than pay for dropping a phone by accident which sounds pretty logical and somewhat competent to me but what do I know?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Competent adults do what they can to protect expensive items they purchase.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

This sounds exactly like something my great grandmother from Germany would have said. It's seriously uncanny. Nanna? Is that you? 🤔

Joey??

Say the lady who sits at a desk all day

by pbatz 1 week ago

So, a competent adult never accidentally drops things? That wound mean no competent adult has ever existed.

by Great_Ratio 1 week ago

I completely agree.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Maybe, but I have a cat so I claim an exemption.

by karellemurphy 1 week ago

haha! granted!

by julianoconnell 1 week ago

looks you straight in the eye while pushing the exemption certificate in its frame onto the floor

by karellemurphy 1 week ago

By that logic, wearing a seatbelt while I'm driving my car or a helmet while I'm riding my bike makes me a non - competent adult.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

If it's a cool looking helmet, though, it's fine. lol

by shaniehirthe 1 week ago

Thats like saying - good drivers shouldn't use seat belts or electricians rubber gloves.

by stantonreed 1 week ago

You got bumpers on your car right? Or do you take them off because you're a competent adult and don't need them?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

So there is no need for life insurance or car insurance either then right? You are an adult. You know how to drive. You know how to not hurt yourself. Accidents never actually happen, right?

by No_Acanthisitta_4914 1 week ago

🥲 I have no coordination and drop my phone 1-3x daily….i can adult in other ways fine but im a clumsy oaf

by Rennermadelyn 1 week ago

Accidents DO happen. Regardless of how competent an adult you are.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

That's like saying you don't need insurance for a car

by Anonymous 1 week ago

If you are a competent adult why do you wear seat belts

by SecretaryBeautiful37 1 week ago

You see...there is a little thing called ACCIDENTS that happen and most people, when carrying around an expensive item, want to ensure said expensive item is protected. Kinda like wearing a helmet in baseball. Huge chance you won't need it but it's great to be there when you do.

by Ok-Quarter-3012 1 week ago

I'm clumsy, i drop my Phone a lot

by LessBarracuda157 1 week ago

I'm clumsy

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Adults never drop things, then?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

My phone looks freaking weird without a case. I think they are now designed assuming you will have a case. And also, accidents happen

by Anonymous 1 week ago

If you're a competent adult you shouldn't need clothes to keep warm or prevent sunburn

by Umccullough 1 week ago

Idiotic take

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Even the most competent of people make mistakes and drop things on occasion. We aren't perfect machines.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

As competent adult, I have broken two phones without cases and zero with cases. Plus I like the feel of the extra grippyness my case provides. I do not care for the slickness of stock phones.
