+47 You shouldn't apply for jobs you are completely unqualified for, amirite?

I get it. But this isn't a low paying position as the floor is $150K + 5% commission with no cap. The ten candidates that are qualified are not unicorns they just have at least bare minimum experience for a job that is titled "Senior".

I'm only frustrated because of two reasons. I have to email every non qualified candidate to tell them why and then add them all to a not eligible for hire list that prevents them from any other role for two years.

That's kinda your company policy, the industry norm is no reply unless they've had an interview until you fill the position and then you just bulk email that it's been filled. Certainly it's your company thing about the 2 years. So you should be angry with your company having weird policies not with candidates

Well there are two things with this that really suck. The first is I have to email every candidate that didn't qualify and explain why. So 290 emails tomorrow. And this is something I don't agree with but anyone who applied who wasn't qualified I have to put on a list and they are not eligible for hire for any position for the next two years.

Generate a draft email template with the general and common reasons. If anyone actually responds then go into detail. Work smarter not harder, you chose to be in HR and this is a big part of your job.

Almost like he shouldn't have qualified for this position...

Unfortunately I'm not allowed to do that. I am required to email every candidate and I'm not allowed to use a template, mass email, mail merge etc. Yes my CEO is an idiot.

Are you also not allowed to make suggestions to improve efficiency at work or look for another job? You're a recruiter by trade right? Surely your skills could be applied to virtually any business, so jump in the talent pool and see what else you can get. Worst they can do is say no 🤷‍♂️

I've been applying for jobs I'm qualified for for the past 10 months with no luck. Maybe I'll have better luck applying for jobs I'm unqualified for?

Let's flood employers with unqualified applications. I'll start tomorrow. Thanks, OP

Happy to be of service.

That really sucks I'm sorry to hear that.

Thanks.

Yeah it's not perfect I'm just saying there is no exceptions for these roles per the CEO. He was very clear to reject anyone who doesn't fit the min requirements and the prob with my company is I can't move these other candidates to other open positions that they would be qualified for because our company policy is to put them on a 2 year not eligible for hire list.

The problem is, your CEO is an idiot.

It's a very sensible approach to "We'll call you and let you know". I doubt it, but it doesn't matter I've done 5,000 of these things. Somebody is going to call. Can't wait to find out what I'm going to be when I grow up when that phone rings. A hairdresser, a landscaper, a professor, a senior nuclear engineer. Could be anything, we'll see.

Lord forbid a recruiter does recruiter work lol.

Because it takes less than 5 minutes to upload a resume and there's no downside. Oh you didn't get an interview? Time to put in another application. Always Be Closing, can't close if you never prospect. Some people play the game to WIN

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I know, right! Just think if only the qualified 10 applied, they wouldn't even need you. They could let you go and save them selves some money, because the receptionist could read the applications.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I'm in the same boat. You can tell the people who just apply to every job on indeed thinking it'll improve their chances

In what world is this unpopular?
