+39 Influencers don't suck, amirite?

by Hour_Phrase 1 week ago

They are not celebrities. They are salespeople. Influencer is a job in the marketing sector. They are sales representatives, not celebrities.

Nope, they suck

I have read your unpopular opinion and have come to the decision that in fact... I still hate influences Not because of what they want to achieve but because of how they do it

Yeah, you can tell what a big deal influencers are from how like a whole five of them have crossed over into mainstream celebrity in the last fifteen years.

Yeah but fame is no indicator. There's over $200b in influencing as an industry. Even my buddy and his wife average about $1500-2000/month doing a food social media page. Pays the bills. Slow growth but they started a year and a half ago.

You didn't answer my question. Feels intentional. How many hours a week do they put in on it? Follow up question: you're counting the freebies as compensation, aren't you?

by Complex-Studio 1 week ago

No im counting the fact that they would love and probably would have gone out as a couple anyway lol. Hmm. I'd guess no more than 15 hours a week at max?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

So you are counting the freebies as compensation. Fifteen hours total or each? And how much of that is actual coin of the realm and not free swag?

by Complex-Studio 1 week ago

Except your opinion doesn't change the fact that I still hate influencers.

Well call me old fashioned, but i really miss the time where people with interesting skills or talent were famous for what they do. Most( not all) influences are basically reality tv "cerebrates", I really cant think of an example which is worse than that.

Counterpoint: they do suck.

Ugh. No

by Specialist_Care649 1 week ago

So long as they aren't problematic or hurting anyone, I don't care. They don't need to be working at some Brick and mortar building 40 hours a week if they don't want to. Doesn't affect my life.

Yikes.

You can apply that to most celebrities as well. Most celebrities are famous because they look good and fit a certain mold. Plus they have the industry backing and pushing them. We can argue who is more talented but there are plenty of celebs who had Eveything handed to them pretty much look at JLO for example

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I literally explained why it is different, most traditional celebrities went to stage school and most have worked on that career way into their childhood. Yes of course there are exceptions, but within the main it is not handed to them at all

Most if them do
