+29 A mind reader wouldn't be able to read the mind of someone who doesn't have an internal monologue, amirite?

A mind reader walks into a bar and... nevermind, it was too quiet.

The voices in my head will more than make up for anyone without an internal monologue.

It's a fictional superpower. Who says mind reading requires an inner monologue active to work?

A mind reader walks into an Adhd meet up... Oohp they quit

Why should mind reading be based on language?

by Global-Tension-5661 2 weeks ago

Alright. Then, how about anaphasia, the inability to picture something in their imagination? Does that work for you?

by rosalialarson 2 weeks ago

In multiple different versions mind reading also includes being able to view memories etc. so I don't think being able to visualise or have an internal monologue will affect the mind reading

When I read about people without an internal dialogue I had a hard time believing it. Then I met a few, it I wild to so someone who can just sit down and click off.

I don't get what's so crazy about it. We still have internal monologues, just no visualization. I find it crazier that some people don't have the ability to have inner monologues. Is one way to look at it.

When I read about people without an internal dialogue I had a hard time believing it. Yeah, I get it. I think you folks all need a trip to doctor! Hard to perceive an experience so different to your own fundamental understanding of the world.

À lip reader couldn't read dead-mute person

I'd feel so bad for a mind reader around me. I've got an internal monologue. There's generally a song playing in the background. I'm checking things off my shopping list. It's really loud up there

by Charlottemarvin 2 weeks ago

Maybe they'll see images instead. Y'know, like how people without an internal monologue see things.

The storytelling potential is incredible imagine if there's like a dozen different "styles" of thinking and you can only read some minds like if you have a monologue you can only read other alike that if you think in pics you can only read pics

by Qpacocha 2 weeks ago

I am not sure you know exactly what reading means. Are your books loud?

by GuitarOk886 2 weeks ago

Do mind 'readers' see it, then? Or does most media show not us the words being heard in their own head ('listened' to).

by rosalialarson 2 weeks ago

People without internal dialogue are still able to think…

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Everyone has an internal monologue

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Believe it or not, there are actually people out there that don't. There are also people that can't picture anything in their imaginations (anaphasia). They're even on this website. They live among us.

by rosalialarson 2 weeks ago

Aphantasia is the term that you were looking for. Not to be confused aphasia or anaphase.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Lol oop might have got myself a bit mixed up there, thanks

by rosalialarson 2 weeks ago

No.

by Imaginary-Snow 2 weeks ago

I don't. I'm always thinking, but rarely in words.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Well rarely

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I don't.

Not true

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Not me. If I sit and focus and try to listen to what's happening in my head, I just get music. There is always a snippet of music going round my head, nothing more.

by AnyStock964 2 weeks ago

What kind of music? With lyrics? Let's say for example you have to learn the lyrics to a song. Can you go over them without physically talking/singing?
