The phrase "Slid into my DM's" is cringy and stupid. amirite?
by colinrolfson2 weeks ago
But no one says it like, unironically do they?

I DM people. I don't slide there, I'm there or I'm not 😂 The implications of it are that for example, you ask an innocent question in DM. After the question, you start to chat a bit, which was your main intention all along. You used the question as a trick to get your foot on the door, so to speak, and now you have "slid into the DM's".

I mean, every generation has their lingo and slang. I'm sure the same can be said about most phrases or things from your childhood/youth as well. Besides, I don't know anyone who says that phrase in any kind of serious, unironic manner.

What does it even mean exactly?

Whenever somebody says it, I have to think about a Star Trek character. Someone who would slide out underneath the door like a Shapeshifter.
