+23 if you smell strongly of pot in public you should be asked to leave, amirite?

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

"Don't be in public if you smell" Groundbreaking opinion.

by Active_Warning7945 2 weeks ago

Homeboy wouldn't do too well in NYC in the summer.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

This man's been on MTA in August

by One_Blacksmith 2 weeks ago

Someone really should have told the homeless people in my city, I don't think they know the rules

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I think its more nuanced. Some people might not like the smell of certain laundry detergents or perfumes. Should people that use these products not be in public? Weed is similar, lots of people are fine with the smell or even enjoy it.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I love how it smells before it's smoked, hate the smoker smell tho

by Radiant-Republic 2 weeks ago

Yoooo I spit my water out reading this 😂 🤣

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I can't the stand of people wearing heavy perfume or cologne. However, I'm also an adult and don't expect the world to revolve around me, its shockingly easy.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I just can't the stand of people.

by VisibleInternet 2 weeks ago

This made me laugh way too hard xD

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Same. I just can't stand perfume

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I'd rather smell nearly anything vile besides perfume.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Perfumes/cologne you can taste when they walk past 🤮

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Wearing excessive amounts of perfume in public spaces like restaurants and theaters is also super inconsiderate. We can't expect everyone to cater to our preferences but it isn't hard to not be an asshole

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Honestly I think the problem is that most people wearing excessive perfume don't realize it/aren't doing it purposefully. Like, some people were just never taught how to use perfume and think you need to spray your entire body head to toe. Makes me think back to the days of Victoria's Secret body spray when girls would douse themselves in it in the bathroom.

by Ronnycarroll 2 weeks ago

Why doesn't this attitude stay for people who watch a video on their phone without headphones?

by terranceschuste 2 weeks ago

You mean idiots

by wisozkvladimir 2 weeks ago

Exactly! Your sense of taste largely comes from retronasal olfaction. You can't properly taste your meal if you're huffing perfume/cologne.

by Hanehans 2 weeks ago

I was with you up until "revealing clothes" which are not in the same ballpark as olofactory or aural nusiances. You don't like how someone looks? Don't look at them.

by New-Letterhead-951 2 weeks ago

Yeah, I agree for the most part. I don't think it's ok to be wearing exposing stuff in public areas with children present. Like people wearing nothing but nipple pasties or ass-less chaps. Probably should have specifically said "revealing to the point of near pornographic". You would understandably see this as hyperbolic, but I've seen some things I don't want to see just walking to grab a cup of coffee.

by Hanehans 2 weeks ago

Yeahhh like I get where people like OP are coming from, but right around the "smell gives me a headache" part of their deal I start to thank the person in question is soft and prickly and doesn't have trouble letting people know they're uncomfortable, even when it'd be tactful or respectful not to.

by Automatic_Bobcat 2 weeks ago

People with BO are given a pass because we don't know if it's medical or not. Smoking pot can be helped. They're intentionally going out smelly when they could easily not.

by idellamertz 2 weeks ago

Not agreeing or disagreeing with OP but I don't think this compares to people with uncontrollable body odor that I'm sure they're embarrassed about.

by Eoconner 2 weeks ago

I am guilty of this and often find that I have put way too much perfume on without meaning to 😭

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

'public' implies being in an area with people you may not choose to be with generally, you don't get to enforce your standards. I don't smoke pot, but I'd be worried about this rule. I love garlic, after all.

by herminia30 2 weeks ago

"Sir I'm going to have to ask you to leave… the outside"

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

What is the charge!? Enjoying a meal? A succulent Italian meal!?

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Get your hand off my PENIS

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Aah yes, I see you know your judo well

by Cblick 2 weeks ago

I am not sure how to go outside the outside…

by Crafty-Ebb 2 weeks ago

Right? "I demand nasal autonomy. Upon my declaration, anybody smelling like Victoria Secret "Love Spell" should be deported to the antarctic. "

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

OP is unhinged. the colour yellow gives me migraines. by his logic, I should be able to have the public wearing of yellow banned

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Implementing a law for this is insane. But I do agree that it should be more socially unacceptable to absolutely reek in public (especially if it's in a relatively crowded place). Some people seriously need to be taught what deodorant is.

by Hanehans 2 weeks ago

I'd say this is already very socially unacceptable

by chaimgreen 2 weeks ago

You can't legislate manners. It's a failing of society, every degeneracy goes these days - welcome to non judgmental world

by gleichnerenos 2 weeks ago

They're not close as far as smell intensity goes. Especially if you burn one in an enclosed spaced.

by Wooden-Virus 2 weeks ago

By this reasoning people with BO or just smell should be asked to leave. While I find it unpleasant they aren't breaking any laws.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I wish people with BO were asked to leave

by Fit_Two 2 weeks ago

damn okay

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

You don't have to be breaking the law to be asked to leave

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

You can ask, and they can say no

by Efficient-Block 2 weeks ago

actually, sounds good to me!

by jjohnson 2 weeks ago

But they should leave too😂😂

by Sad_Fun 2 weeks ago

Leave public?

by dleffler 2 weeks ago

"Sir, you're going to have to go private, I need you to leave public"

by Dazzling_Dinner 2 weeks ago

bro is getting exiled, back to biblical days

by Estel39 2 weeks ago

"your under arrest for being drunk in public" "I was drunk in a bar. They threw me into public!"

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

opposite of telling someone to touch grass. go be online.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

The whole point of ''in public'' is that it's not your space to enforce anything in. Literally millions of people are going about their day, they're not going to exile themselves from their routine on the basis that you don't like a smell when they walk past you lol

by edurgan 2 weeks ago

What about other senses? What if OP doesn't like the way they look or the sound of their voice?

by Daughertykeyon 2 weeks ago

Bro you can't just leave "public"

by Bboyle 2 weeks ago

So people are allowed to smell like piss and sweat but if you smell weed they gotta go lol

by Outside-Ganache 2 weeks ago

OPs gotta draw the line somewhere 😂

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Or people who work with fish. I live in a coastal area, in the biggest grocery store in the area. Fishermen and cannary workers come in quite often, real nice men and women, but JESUS, they smell FOUL.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Agreed. I smoke so I'm usually blind to it but sometimes I can smell it but I'd still prefer my patient smells like weed vs. pissy depends

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

super heady terp profile Lol how much do you hang around cannabis stores?

by sboyer 2 weeks ago

This. Exactly this. And we all have that one thing we hate when other people do it, but we either learn to live with it or avoid it. This is literally one of the cost of living in society.

by Longjumping_Pea 2 weeks ago

I lucked out in that regard my sense of smell barely works so I don't have to worry about what others smell like. The only sense that is really heavily affected is taste where I'll outright uncontrollably gag at certain flavors and textures. I usually just tell people I'm a picky eater though because it's less of a hassle

by Corkeryfritz 2 weeks ago

how will these people leave public without encountering more public before reaching private? is this applicable to any strong and unpleasant smells? how far does this go??

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Dunno about that but I have a coworker that smokes these electronic cigs inside a small closed space and when I open the door to tell her something the space smells like someone aggressively farted for a whole week in there.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

In life you'll encounter a vast array of odors, some pleasant some not, so get tf over it lol

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I don't find it to be as bad as the smell of an unwashed body that some people in public think is okay to emit. I also find pure tobacco a lot worse.

by Lukasgerhold 2 weeks ago

I don't even smoke, but I'd rather smell weed on people than 90% of the other people stanks we have to endure. Why not BO and bad breath and cat pee people?

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

What about the super strong yucky cologne or perfume, or someone with a lot of body odor, or someone that just got off work from their job at the poop factory

by SubstantialBobcat528 2 weeks ago

I agree with the sentiment but more broadly. The concept of shame needs a desperate reintroduction to our society. The more our collective standards drop the more the average person resembles a walking garbage bag.

by Dillon86 2 weeks ago

OP calls it pot. Guaranteed he's 100% against and lying 🤙🏼

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

"He's smoking MARIJUANA!!!"

by garrickkoelpin 2 weeks ago

Bruh. Just one marijuana won't hurt.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Oh come on, it does not give you a headache. Bet you're the type to start fake coughing if someone is smoking a cigarette 30 metres away

by Anxious-Schedule 2 weeks ago

This sounds like a you problem

by Dazzling_Dinner 2 weeks ago

Damn. Now I gotta go find out what happens to the people who get asked to leave in public. Do you just go home? For how long? Are you allowed to use the internet during your excommunication?

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Heh, I smoke while I am walking in public. And will continue to do so just to spite you

by Lockmanbrady 2 weeks ago

People who get headaches from minor smells shouldn't be allowed in public.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

ummm how about cigarette smoking ppl though?? 👀👀

by Sea-Hunter 2 weeks ago

Aren't they somewhat restricted with regards to where they can smoke?

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Wear a COVID mask then

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

It's rude to have a strong odor in a place where are forced in to close quarters. That it, all of it, the type of smell is irrelevant.

by Hot_Plantain_9778 2 weeks ago

Pot/Tobacco are the least of my concerns. If people wouldn't smell like asscrack and days old sweat I'd never complain again.

by Hot_Concentrate_7221 2 weeks ago

I find it one of the cringiest and weakest things whenever people get so upset about smells lol. It's just a smell bro, you're not taking any damage.

by aditya04 2 weeks ago

I'll take the smell of pot over the smell of tobacco any day.

by greenholtlesly 2 weeks ago

OP is like the landlords that say, " No cooking with spices in the apartment."

by Ihackett 2 weeks ago

If you smell strongly of anything, good or bad

by Estel39 2 weeks ago

Something a lot of people forget is that cannabis is also used as a prescribed medicine for people with real and usually bad health issues. I rather smell nasty like weed than be in pain.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

It somehow amazes me when people say "I'm not anti X" before giving a speech against the thing itself. It is just funnily absurd. Like trying to cast some magic spell to protect you.

by Cute_Emphasis 2 weeks ago

It's not a "magic spell", it's an opinion. Someone who's anti x, doesn't want anyone using it at all.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

It's annoying but what can you do… it's not like the smell is gonna kill you

by Substantial-Shop 2 weeks ago

What if they reek of booze?

by Meredithparisia 2 weeks ago

HELL NO…. Should a person reeking of body odor because they don't believe in real deodorant be asked to leave? What about bad perfume or cologne, how about garlic and other spices, perhaps liquor or cigars ? When you leave your home and go into a public place you just enter a great big sand box… you move or take your chances when complaining…. Unless the offensive person is breaking a rule of the property…

by Kilbackfausto 2 weeks ago

Never once noticed someone smelling of pot when they where not smoking at that very moment and I am very sensitive when it comes to smells. Would I wish people wouldn't wear heavy Parfum or am disgusted by the smell of cigarettes, yes but where does it end?

by Tricky-Ad3848 2 weeks ago

As much as I hate the smell of weed, can't do anything about it if they're in public.

by CommitteeOk1510 2 weeks ago

I think you meant "if you smell strongly of pot in a private space you should be asked to leave" everyone is entitled to occupy a public space no matter their standards of care, but I would prefer not to sit next to the 420 gang at a restaurant while I'm trying to eat, and this is coming from a daily smoker. Don't give us a bad name, have some standards

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Maybe you should stay inside your home if everyone reeking of something shouldnt be part of society in your own small world. As you wrote we already made it illegal to smoke indoor in most places. But you want everyone who smells a little bit like tobacco to be punished and expelled from society? Thats a problem YOU have, so its your problem. Stay inside.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

So not just weed, but you don't want to encounter any other smells too? Sounds like outside is just not the place for you my guy.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I understand this sentiment in private settings, but I think asking someone to leave for smelling like weed in a public setting is a lot

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Well, in Germany (with certain restrictions) its now legal to smoke it on the street so it'd be a hard to ask them all to leave lmao

by jakubowskidemet 2 weeks ago

🤦‍♀️ where's the skunk weed😆

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

In South East Asian countries they carry around these little containers that have pleasant smelling herbs etc in them. Maybe you could start doing that if you're so sensitive to smells OP.

by Ecarroll 2 weeks ago

What a sausage

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Should we also ban people wearing perfume? It gives me a headache and smells too strong, it's nasty.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I don't think you realize what "in public" means

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I'm more worried about the folks that don't wash their ass and the cigarette smokers tbh. You spot an individual and just know to breathe through your mouth when they walk by.

by StraightInspection 2 weeks ago

we finally got rid of smoking inside. And now you're complaining about smoking outside

by EmuPuzzled 2 weeks ago

This is ridiculous stay home then

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

But it smells sooooooooo good

by NaturalOutside 2 weeks ago

I'd rather smell weed than axe body spray or drakkar noir

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

You hate the smell because it's smelly to you I hate the smell because it makes me wanna roll one We are not the same

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

To be fair, the weed in NYC for example tends to have a pungent smell reminiscent of old sweat. I could see that being rude in places like theaters, similar to strong BO, but not sure about actual enforcement. I find tobacco is bad right after a smoke break, then mostly fades away. The purpose of perfume/cologne literally is to smell good so irrelevant here in my opinion.

by Dull_Foundation 2 weeks ago

O.K. I used to be guilty of this offense and for that I am sorry. I admittedly was very bored in school (community college) and got high daily with a friend of mine at her house right next to campus and flew into school. I heard people say, "Someone smells like pot!" and this was way before it was legal kiddies! Nobody asked me to leave and I always made sure to brush my teeth, wash around my mouth and hands and tried to do better. Now I smell it everywhere and don't even look up. I would rather smell that than cigarettes.

by Historical-Prune-273 2 weeks ago

You take that sorry and stuff it back into its sack! We've paid enough during prohibition! OUR TIME TO SMELL SKUNKY IN PUBLIC AND NOT GET ARRESTED FOR IT IS NIGH!

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Good luck policing smells lmao

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Cigarette and cigar stench is WAY worse.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

You feel the same about cigarettes I'm assuming?

by AppropriateNoise 2 weeks ago

Skipped that part huh?

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

He mentioned cigarettes and alcohol?

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I can't stand the smell of a lot of colognes and perfumes but I'm not demanding those who wear it stay out of public spaces. Free will and all.

by Designer_Abies9660 2 weeks ago

So people who smoke cigarettes are okay? So people who smell straight like ass, are okay? Where do we draw the line here?

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

If it is in public you should leave if there is something you don't like, they have the right to be in public just like you, smells or no smells.

by Efficient-Block 2 weeks ago

sounds like a you problem

by Opposite_Morning_848 2 weeks ago

If your so confident that the PUBLIC should obey your every whim and command, why not go and tell them? Walk upto that dirty stoner man and tell him he stinks. Go on, be that guy.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Better than cigarettes and the smell doesn't stick around as long

by SpiritualButton 2 weeks ago

you get a headache from smelling weed off a random person? yeah ok

by Affectionate-City 2 weeks ago

I get one from it. Also from smelling cigarette smoke off some people. But there are polite adult ways of dealing with it. Starting by understanding that it's a me problem and not a them problem.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

You can also leave.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Maybe you leave! It's public!

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

As someone who is very allergic to fragrances, including the ones added to shampoo and laundry detergent and candles (and and and, the list is very long), I'd love to have lots of things banned from public spaces. But that's not realistic or practical or legislatively possible idea. It's personal freedom, if you go down the path of banning personal freedom then things get really scary pretty quickly. The same as not being able to buy birth control because someone else's religious beliefs are against birth control, that kind of scary. We don't need more things like that.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

My daughter has an actual fragrance allergy that affects her so severely that it literally caused her eyes to attack themselves, which then caused them to grow extra blood vessels to try and compensate, which so negatively affected her eyesight and light sensitivity that she was legally blind. It took us almost four years of exams, ointments, doctors appointments, and tests to narrow that down and she is still legally blind in one eye and barely out of legal blind territory in the other after years of treatments. Even with the long road ahead we still have to navigate treatment wise and the money we have had to spend to eliminate all fragrances from our home, you know what I would never expect other people to do? Even to literally change my kids life and save her eyesight? I would never expect the entire PUBLIC to cater to her allergy. And your issue is smell and a possible headache. Geez. Just move seats or go home dude.

by Freilly 2 weeks ago

Wow, that sounds rough. I mean your daughter's allergy. I do get headaches from getting close to people who smell strongly (especially smokers even when they're not smoking at the time) but yes, it's really not that big a deal. Depending on how long I have to stay I decide whether I'll find a polite way to distance myself from them or just leave. And then I do a nasal rinse when I get home.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

How about smelly protesting hippies?

by AccomplishedPen9357 2 weeks ago

Yeah… no

by Conscious-Wait 2 weeks ago

I'm actually complimented on my cologne quite often

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Well, looks like this opinion is truly unpopular 😂

by Hermannkarianne 2 weeks ago

So also if you fart you should be asked to leave

by Living_Archer 2 weeks ago

if you wear perfume in public you should be asked to leave. If you smell like your delicious food that I am pretending not to like for the example you should be asked to leave

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

That's any smell though, cigarettes, cologne, weed, alcohol, sweat, you smell, you should be asked to leave.

by Complex-Community 2 weeks ago

Not unpopular, just dumb.

by Kerlukemoshe 2 weeks ago

Yeah, well that's just like your opinion man.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

What about tobacco or alcohol?

by Downtown-Pay4704 2 weeks ago

What's worse for smell, a Yu Gi Oh tournament or 1 Pot Dude.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

So what if I don't like the smell of your deodorant? Or I don't like looking at the offensive colour of your shirt?

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

OP doesn't like people who don't smell the way they want them too.

by Hot_Sweet 2 weeks ago

You really give the vibe of someone who make inconfortable benches just to be sure homeless people can't sleep on them

by SockSlow114 2 weeks ago

Smells in public spaces I don't particularly enjoy but deal with because I'm adult and I have better things to worry about: Cigarette, Chemical smells, Car fluids, Strong/Overused perfumes, Unkept body odors, Seafood There's also plenty of other things I don't enjoy. High pitched noises, People talking loudly on the phone, Someone standing exactly in front of the thing you need at the store, Slow walkers. But I'm in public, so I'm not gonna go "EVERYONE CATER TO ME SPECIFICALLY!! OR LEAVE THE PUBLIC!"

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Guy who shat himself says to another man "excuse me sir, I'm going to have to ask you to leave you smell like pot".

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

It not my business but I hate the smell

by Popular-Food2680 2 weeks ago

OP, sometimes people will smell different in public. You'll have to get used to this. I believe in you.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Not unpopular. In my country you would be detained for something like this and I think it's right.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

You probably wear stinky cologne that smells like bug spray.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago
