I like to hollow out a sea turtle and drink my drinks straight from the shell. That way I don't need to worry about any plastic straws killing any more sea turtles, net positive

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one.

do you know what else is not that bad? just drinking straight out of a cup without a straw.
by Anonymous3 weeks ago
I can't 😠I have crazy sensitive teeth and can only drink room temperature liquids without some type of straw. But I usually have silicone straws in a ziploc in my purse just in case

Not if it has ice. I always end up chewing the ice if I drink iced drink without straws. Teeth are jewels, not stones.

Depends; drinking coke without straw is significantly worse for your teeth than drinking with a straw; basically it's not good to wash your teeth in it and straws prevent that to some extent. It is probably similar for other types of soda, but coke is basically an acid. So it can be kind of bad, at least for your teeth.

This what I suggest whenever someone complains about their plastic straws.

i don't like how they stick to my lips

I will buy my own plastic straws not to use paper. It tastes like a warm fart from a paper mill Tyler Durden lives near.

Have you ever tried to drink a slushee through a paper straw? It doesn't work, nothing comes out. They're terrible
by Beneficial-Fan-88933 weeks ago
To be fair, plastic straws alone aren't great with slushees. Really you need one of those straw-spoon utensils.
by Anonymous3 weeks ago
You mean the sppon/straw utensil they make out of.... plastic?
by No-Fig-67063 weeks ago
I've used the paper variety as well and they work just fine.
by Anonymous3 weeks ago
It just sounds like you agree with it's downside, but just don't mind it.

Some are worse than others. I've had a milkshake where I legitimately got out 2 sips before eating it with a spoon. It baffled me that they didn't think to replace plastic straws with something waterproof
by Anonymous3 weeks ago
There's plastic in the paper. It doesn't stay there.

I was on a date and got a specialty cocktail that was being promoted and it came with a paper straw, I don't really drink anymore so I nursed that beverage for my entire date (about an hour and a half) and it was perfectly functional; people who complain about this are whiners and whiners are wieners.

I just can't honestly think of a time when I would need a straw....if I'm getting coffee they typically have lids with an opening for you to drink from....and yet they still ask if I want a straw...seems weird.

Would you prefer a plastic straw wrapped in paper of a paper straw wrapped in plastic?
by Anonymous3 weeks ago
They are bad if you have a gluten allergy. Glues on them are often made with it to be food safe.
by Skylaroconnell3 weeks ago
While paper straws are in fact godawful, just drink out of the glass or cup without a straw. It's not hard.
by Anonymous3 weeks ago
first off ... straws are not needed at all paper straws suck ( pun intended ) I refuse to use them
