I always take my birthday off, and I'm 47. This year my wife and I are going to the coast for a few days to celebrate.

I take my birthday off every year, and if it falls on my weekend I'll take the day before my weekend off so I can enjoy a 3 day mini break. Been doing this for well over a decade now.

I normally need the day after my birthday off. 9/10 times I will wake up still drunk off my ass.

I always take my birthday off! If it's a Thursday, I take Friday also! It's my time and I want to sleep in!

Not an unpopular opinion.

My company gives us our birthdays off, and even though I don't usually do anything but have lunch with a friend or take a long nap, it's such a nice perk.

It is just another day to me. It is not childish or odd to take the day off if that is what you want to do and can afford to do.

The only people who seem to complain are those who have to pick up the extra work for a whole day

I'm self employed and I worked the full day on my birthday cuz I had nothing else to do lmao But I mean do what you want idc

The only people that think this have no life outside of their job, and I never want to be one of those people.

This isn't unpopular

Not an unpopular opinion. This is SOP for self-absorbed millenial adult babies.

In EU it is very common to take your day off on Bday US not so much. But when you have 30+ paid vacation days per year. It's nothing big

My girlfriend's family does this and they love it. I've considered the merits of it and I am just not convinced that it's worth it. In my family, we would have a nice birthday dinner (if the birthday is in the week) and just go all out on the nearest Saturday. I'd rather save that day for a more convenient time, like if there's a public holiday on a Thursday or a Tuesday I can take a day off to make a long weekend. Or I'd prefer to take a random day off whenever I feel like it. I don't always feel like doing it on my birthday.

You're mistake is telling people what your going to do on your time off. It's none of their business. You're entitled do whatever you want on your days off.
