I've never received an understanding reaction when I tell people that I dislike all pasta. Doesn't matter what it is, if it involves pasta I don't like it at all. People look at me like I kicked their kitten.

THIS. I swear people genuinely believe that all food preferences besides their own are being picky. It's bizarre.

nah, there is a difference between preference and picky. I've seen people who can only eat food prepared in a very specific manner

by Anonymous 1 week ago

But was that being picky or due to health concerns or religious reasons?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I imagine he meant a picky person otherwise he wouldn't have mentioned it. Why would he say picky if the person had health reasons or it was for religious reasons?

They said food prepared in a very specific way. You'd be surprised how many people don't know what kosher or halal is. Could also be OCD.

I don't like watermelon, it tastes like nothingness

by breanna70 1 week ago

Same, but with cucumber, tastes like salty water :/.

by RevolutionaryRoll273 1 week ago

Cucumber is supposed to be mild. Watermelon is not

Do you live in the arctic?

by Candicemante 1 week ago

no ironically I live in Australia

by breanna70 1 week ago

Do they not grow them there? Because something isnt working as they are super sweet when fresh and ripe. Try growing one if you have a garden, they are fun to grow

That's the exact reason why I like tap water. It's great for hydration without the expectation of a strong flavor. (Also, tap water flavor is surprisingly diverse itself.)

I agree. I forced myself to like foods cause my brother would pick on me then tell my parents then say I'm weird for not liking it and I'm too picky. I literally eat a lot of different foods but I just didn't like the food they gave me which was a pre-made Costco steak and cucumbers. I started like cucumbers but cannot like that steak. Another is certain shabu beef brands.

As long as you are not wastful do you. This is really annoying sometimes especially when people are so wasteful because they are so picky. If you are not wasting food other people can eat, cool. But if you are dumping half of your plate in the trash you suck and should ashamed.

Yes it's very normal/common. People have varying differences in taste bud sensitivity and preferences of certain textures of food over others. There are also psychological factors that come into play like being raised to only eat certain foods/flavors or even having a bad experience with certain foods growing up. There are also cultural factors. For example, in some countries beef is seen as a sacred animal and this creates a psychological effect that causes them to actually find the smell/taste of it revolting.

I agree. I've got celery radar. I can smell even the smallest amount in anything and to me it tastes like the bleach they use to make hair white. I'm so sensitive to the smell I've challenged the missus to find something I can't detect it in. So far she's failed.
