The Homerfication of men

by Hammesclaudia 1 week ago

as a dude I can certify most men are dumb. It's society's fault, the rich needed to handicap the masses so they made men violent and dumb.

I can't think of any ‘stupid' men tropes, more so ‘incompetent' men tropes, which used to annoy me quite a bit. Men can't clean right, can't take care of the kids, can't do laundry, they screw up the dishes, can't cook or go grocery shopping, etc etc.

but for some reason smart enough to work on their own car. Where does that make sense? how can you be smart enough to work on cars, but at the same time too stupid to do the laundry?

I agree. Tired of gender stereotypes in general. Are we ever going to evolve?

Yeah, we is smart!

I haven't really ever seen anything like this. Looking up 'stupid man trope' directed me to pages of 'stupidity tropes'. I couldn't find a video of this 'stupid man trope' happening. I don't think it exists.

That dumb dude joke is a reverse joke on dumb secretaries on male lead movies

Think like, Antman, Spencer from iCarly, or basically any man displayed as dumb authority figures like dads or bosses. I agree. It is very overused in this era.

That's the thing tho, the authority is always men followed by the female character looking superior. It's basically the "dumb blonde" cliché but for men. Its.for that feminism ESG thing.

I see it more in commercials than in movies - but the stupid trope is always either 1. stupid man does something stupid, gets corrected by woman, buy our product, or 2. woman does something stupid, no man in the commercial at all, buy our product. I get that it wasn't always that way. But that's how it is now.
