I know of an older man who grew up on the coast. When he was a kid, he was so poor he had to have lobster for lunch every day. He envied the rich kids who got to eat a peanut butter and jam sandwich. He swore when he grew up, he wouldn't eat it anymore. He has - but admits it is much better with a ton of butter. I imagine that if his family couldn't afford a PB and J sandwich, his lobster wouldn't have been covered with butter.

Live spiny lobster boiled Louisiana style like crawfish, no added butter, is actually pretty good. Also have had it (spiny) as sashimi with just soy sauce and some fresh frozen wasabi. That was VERY good, not sure I'd recommend it from a disease risk standpoint.

Shellfish is not only great tasting but also incredibly good for you. Way more protein per calorie than almost every other meat. You can eat SIXTEEN small shrimp that aren't breaded and it is only around 60 calories. As a person on a strict 2000 calorie or less diet shellfish are incredibly valuable to eating healthy while still getting enough protein to maintain my muscle mass. Plus red meat poises other health risks that shellfish does not such as cancer and cardiovascular risks. Good on you for having a truly unpopular opinion though.
