+38 Ford should bring back the Probe. amirite?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

The Probe was actually supposed to replace the Mustang, but it didn't work out.

by xbalistreri 1 week ago

Look at an '88 Mustang and '88 Probe and you can see there was potential, but then the retro revolution hit and Ford figured out how to make a Mustang again.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Not even close. No one wanted a FWD bar of soap as a Mustang.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

The 1990 5. Slow was one of the best mustangs ever made. It looked amazing.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

A probe.... Like which marketing team came up with that? Wild horses running around plains were to romantic so they named it after something Aliens put in my ass?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

90's Ford, sure. But there were a solid 70 years where Ford set the bar for quality and reliability.

by Haunting_Plant8204 1 week ago

WHAT?? really? That is... extremely misguided. Replace an evergreen classic with egg shaped crap.

by Vanmayert 1 week ago

People forget how bad the Mustang got in the 80s.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

The bodies got ugly the the engines were amazing.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Matter of taste. The Fox has always been my favorite Mustang. The only one I really like, honestly. And I'm a car guy, so it's a somewhat informed opinion. The 2nd gens are cool, too. Besides the Mach E, I'd take any of em over a probe.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I'm not comparing them to the probe, I'm comparing them to other years of mustangs. The fox does have a certain personality to it but the 60s and 70s were definitely better looking in my opinion. But like you said it's a matter of taste. I wouldn't say being a "car guy" makes your personal taste more informed though.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

What I specifically brought up was the look of the body, which is purely a personal opinion. Just because you think you love mustangs more than other people doesn't make your opinion of the style of the body any more relevant. You're also assuming that I'm not an aficionado and that I don't know cars. You're just a snob.

'88 Mustang has way more charm than the '88 Probe.

by Vanmayert 1 week ago

Neither were charming and the Fox Body has always been junk outside of the engine.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

The fox body is one of the most capable and proven motorsport chassis in history. It's not even just an amazing drag racing chassis, they are really good when set up for track or autocross. They are even great for hillclimb.

by Haunting_Plant8204 1 week ago

It's certainly a car that has been driven on a track. Not a good one but I'll give you that it's been on a track.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

My first car was a 94, I remember seeing a photo of a Ford dealer lot from 93or 94. The probes sitting next to all the boxy angular Taurus's escorts and suv's made it look like it was from the future.

by Sea_Tooth_7950 1 week ago

I agree that they should offer a car similar to it built under the same concepts. But they should not bring back that name. That is a terrible name.

It shared a platform with the Mazda MX-6 coupe and the 626 sedan. I had a 626, and it was a good car; wish I still had it.

by Brendansatterfi 1 week ago

It was when Ford and Mazda had that thing going on. They cross platformed the Ranger too, right?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Yep! Those ford rangers were also the mazda b series.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

They are good cars. I had 2 protégés in my time (same platform as 626's). I had a 93 I put almost half mil km on without barely spending a dime on it. Then I got a 02, drove that thing for over a decade.

No they shud bring back the Capri, the Cosworth +the Mondeo

by Anonymous 1 week ago

My dad had a Capri. Complete crap, but so much fun!

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Bet your dad was a snatch \ / magnet back in the day in that

by Anonymous 1 week ago

They should bring back the real maverick).

by Anonymous 1 week ago

My older brother had one. He lowered the suspension and when he was in Europe for awhile had it sent over there. A hailstorm eventually ended its life.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I apologize for that

by Anonymous 1 week ago

First car I ever bought was an 89 probe in high school and I loved it. Hit a deer on the freeway once and it permanently kept one of the headlights up. It became a joke that my car was winking at people when I drove.

by Outrageous-Gate9295 1 week ago

92 here, but I felt like that car couldn't get out of its own way. It just had a lot less pep than what its design had you think. I came from a 90 V8 Thunderbird though, so that could be why.

by Beaulahwiza 1 week ago

The Taurus has entered the chat.

My first car was a probe lol

by Roberta70 1 week ago

My first car was a pink Ford probe. I'm a guy and it was originally supposed to be my sister's, but it had a minor issue so she took the other car to college and left me with the probe. So I burned baby girl on a CD and would drive around blasting it. Just decided to steer into the curve. I miss that car.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I bought my Ford probe for 250 bucks. It was the second biggest piece of junk I've ever owned and also my favorite car I've ever owned. I'm not sure if maybe I just have a knack for old beat up Fords, but that thing ran way longer than it should have haha.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

And the Pinto.

by isai39 1 week ago

I liked how the seat belt closed itself on you

by Unusual-Cable3823 1 week ago

That was a hallmark of late 80s/early 90s cars. It sucked.

by Muted-Efficiency 1 week ago

Like I said, the future! Actually, my Escort did the same thing and really jacked up your neck if you were looking out the window and opened the door.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I put the leather seats from a Probe 2.0 into my 95 Ranger. Pretty swanky.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Do you want aliens? That's how you get aliens. SMH

by emma18 1 week ago

My pops had a Probe. It was awesome. Great looking sports car.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I bought a 1989 Ford Probe in 2002 for $750. Everything worked on it except the A/C which did suck badly in the summertime but I drove for it 2.5 years. Never broke down, and being in my young 20's I had some fun memories in that car. Oh to be 20-22 again.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I wanted a 1993 Probe GT so bad when they came out. Looking back, the car is a bit hideous lol. But, it was super cool then.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Ahh I miss my 94 probe. I had the jdm klze swapped in to it from the mx6!

by Negative_Giraffe72 1 week ago

I loved it in teal

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I had a 1991 Probe. I loved it! Wish I had one now.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Are you my neighbor?

by Sea_Tooth_7950 1 week ago

I think more car companies should have one high-end fast sports car and one low-end fun to drive sports car

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Bring back the Fiesta (again).

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Just don't call it the probe.

by noemy30 1 week ago

Why don't you just buy one now? The car already exists in its purest form.

by AbbreviationsRude755 1 week ago

Oh God no, ugliest damn car for made.
