-34 It's weird that we type the letter L with our right hand and R with our left, amirite?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I do that but with one finger per hand.

I use like 2 fingers per hand. If I'm feeling fancy, 3

I still chuckle when I watch my dad type, exactly like this. Although given the fact that he's almost 80 I should just be grateful he's technology-literate.

My dad is in his 60s and weirdly technologically literate for his age, but he still pecks... Drives me crazy any time I watch him try and look something up lol

tbf that dumbass specific hand placement I think is the other equally terrible side of the spectrum. Like seriously no one cares.

You're not supposed to drink the bong water

Except for those keyboards where letters are in other places, e.g., Dvorak, where R and L are next to each other in the upper right below zero. Of course, still backwards relative to each other for right-left alignment...

The QWERTY keyboard was designed to slow people down when typing, so that makes sense.

That's actually a myth

Some people in Kyoto 100 years later theorized it was based on Morse op typing (which I've done, and the keyboard layout has nothing to do with it) and the Encyclopedia Brittanica and NYT got it wrong, even after consulting with typists, typesetters, and typing machine makers? Sure thing.

It's like most people have never touched a typewriter. (I think I'm starting to show my age)

In older Roguelikes, they use something called Vi keys. L being on the far right of the keyboard means you have to use L to go right. Nerds.

It's because its the most convenient hand.

by Beneficial-Pay-7724 1 week ago

Damn now I gotta change the way that I type

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Doesn't seem that weild to me, what ale you tarking about?

by buford02 1 week ago

Y... Yeah??

by Anonymous 1 week ago

You don't? Like on a real keyboard?

by Cristian35 1 week ago

How do you not?!

by vorn 1 week ago

No its not weird because the l is on the right side, and the r on the left side. You could argue about the qwerty layout but its not weird

Unless we speak about writing with a pen. Then this is only correct for lefthanded people. Since the lefthand is the right hand (if we use the definition of it being the opposite of wrong).
