Philosophy is useful regardless of whether we live in a simulation I don't think living in a simulation actually has any consequence at all. We already know there are wildly different ways to describe the universe from the way that we're inclined to view it with our senses because of stuff like the holographic principle. That's not much different from the laws of physics actually being products of the physical structure of some object(like a computer) and I think ultimately we'd just be living in the higher level universe and seeing it from a very specific perspective
