-21 I prefer wired headphones to AirPods, amirite?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

The problem is the airpods don't fit your ear well. It's really that simple mate. I've been using the apple earbuds since I had my first iPhone long before the airpods were released. The shape fits my ear perfectly and they are the best for working out for me. The earbuds that have different sized rubber pieces have never fit my ears well regardless of which size I use.

by medaroberts 1 month ago

Honestly i think all true audiophiles are this way big wired earphones produce much richer sound and bass.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

It depends on the use case. Wired headphones are excellent when you're stationary, while bluetooth/wireless headphones work well when you're moving around. You'll never see a producer in a studio mixing their music with wireless headphones, and you'll probably be hard pressed to find somebody wearing wired headphones while running a marathon.

by Qboyer 1 month ago

The only problem with wired headphones is that they are always tangled somehow.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Nothing worse for me than walking past a door, the wire gets hooked on the door handle, and get violently ripped from my ears What I like about wireless is I don't even need my phone on my, just somewhat near me, and I can freely walk around and not worry about any of that happening It makes cooking in the kitchen much more pleasant

by Judah61 1 month ago

That's why you run them up your shirt. Wired are superior to wireless in every way.

by Fast_Goose2771 1 month ago

Same here or my wireless beats.. the giant over the ears ones.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

100%, but I do have to say that I have had a lot of wires rip, which makes them useless

by Used_Lead 1 month ago

If you are careful with them they can last very long. (pockets kill them fast) Batteries will degrade on wireless earphones whatever you do.

by Capable_Lab6092 1 month ago

Honestly, not being able to use pockets is a pretty big deal for me when it comes to headphones

Wired over wireless any day of the week.

by Extreme-Direction-48 1 month ago

Wired headphones all the way! AirPods slipping out, digging into your ears - ain't nobody got time for that discomfort. Plus, that cushiony feel of wired ones is like a cozy ear hug. Stick to what works for you, no need to force the AirPods hype. Comfort over trends any day!

by Vast_Bet 1 month ago

Me too, and you don't have to be worried whether they are charged, etc

by ConversationPrior 1 month ago

Todays buds and cases easily get multiple days, even up to a week of use from a full charge, so as long as you throw it on the charger once every few days you really don't need to worry about it.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I'm using some headphones I haven't used for a month. Wired: no probs, stick them in the socket Wiireless: oh God, will they still be holding enough charge? What were they at last time? Hell if I know. I have used them with this phone, right? I don't need to pair them, do I?

by brielletowne 1 month ago

And how many people does this actually apply to though? For 99% of people, they are going to use the same pair of earbuds with the same devices every day. There's plenty of valid reasons to choose wired over wireless. There's no need to make up extreme situations that would only apply to the smallest fraction of users.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Everyone is different. I use headphones for holidays, sometimes for work on the go, and occasionally on my weekly train journey to work. So yes, I can easily go several months between using them. People aren't a monolith and there'll be a broad range of uses. Don't assume everyone is like you.

by brielletowne 1 month ago

But with wired ones I never have to 🤷🏽‍♀️

by ConversationPrior 1 month ago

You don't have to plug it into a charger once in a while instead you have to plug them into a phone every single time. I know which one I prefer.

by Keithlabadie 1 month ago

It does for me. I don't want to be charging an extra device and am happy to avoid that if I can. Not to mention if it falls out when I'm running with wired ones they don't go very far.

by ConversationPrior 1 month ago

Yeah, plenty of people I know have had their days ruined because "I forgot to charge my AirPods"

by Anonymous 1 month ago

IDK, the having to charge them argument really doesn't hold much water IMO. You can easily multiple days of charge just from the case, and you can't really "forget" to charge the pods themselves since they charge automatically in the case. The case charges fast, and can charge via cable or wireless charger. Not saying people haven't forgotten to charge them, but it's not like the days of wireless buds where you had like 3 hours of battery.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

You're literally telling a person who knows several people who had to deal with a pain in the ass because they forgot to charge their airpods. I don't know if you're going to say that this is their fault next, but the inescapable fact is this literally cannot, under any circumstances, happen with wired headphones.

by brielletowne 1 month ago

I've used AirPods for almost 5 years now and have legitimately run out of charge two or three times. And yes, to an extent I am saying it's their fault. It's like forgetting to fill your car with gas. It can happen, but you really have to try to do it. Yes yes it's not directly comparable since the repercussions of forgetting are not identical; but you get my point.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I don't think this is unpopular as it seems. There are definitely benefits to wireless, but the same is true for wired. Some of my instinctive use cases are: For a long haul flight, wired is better For an audiophile, wired is better For longevity, wired is better For use with legacy devices (eg record player), wired is usually easier

by Anonymous 1 month ago

You're just saying you like earphones as opposed to earbuds. Wires get in the way if you do any kind of strenuous workout, to the point of being basically objectively worse. Tripping over wires and full speeds or having them caught in arm motions and ripping your headphones off is annoying, and what we had to deal with in the 80s - 2000s when working out. How I can finally just do full motion freely and not worry.

by Nicoladeckow 1 month ago

Wired headphones, anything you're doing with any motion, even running, your arms would pull wires out of the socket for a strenuous run. For seated higher range of motion, wires would often get caught on all kinds of stuff. I also rock climb as part of the workout and stuff got all in the way.

by Nicoladeckow 1 month ago

Buds during the hot summer days and over ears rest of the time.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

100% agree! I have a pair of Pioneer Rayz, which are like the only big brand iPhone-jack wired earbuds with noise cancellation on the market and love them: always ready to go, no need to remember to recharge them. I'm surprised they never really caught on

by Anonymous 1 month ago

ok

by Anonymous 1 month ago

A lot of wireless buds are great. It just seems like the EarPods don't fit you and that's just the nature of those particular ones. Find some other brands/designs that do fit and you'll probably be very happy with them.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Fr the fact that majority of phones don't even have an 8th inch output anymore is criminal

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Wired is more reliable, better quality, and cheaper. You get better sound from a pair of £90 Studio Headphones than you do from the overpriced £300 airpods.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Sound quality, wired. Convenience and mobility, wireless. Wireless headphones make such a significant difference in my work life but sound quality is always better with wired. I don't buy AirPods tho

by Wooden-Reserve-3570 1 month ago

They make wireless headphones with the gel tips that fit nicely and stay in the ear. Every time I wear wired headphones around the house, I wind up getting them caught in a doorknob and yanked out of my ear.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I'd agree but when the wire gets caught on something and they rip out of my ears, I become beyond enraged

by Perfect-Resort 1 month ago

i use wired IEMs, but with a bluetooth receiver when not at my desk, because it's really annoying plugging into a big flagship phone. Even when it didn't need an external dongle, i still used bluetooth because i do not carry things in my pants.

by Wide-Ad 1 month ago

Tried anything wireless outside of airpods? Even as far as wireless headphones go, airpods are pretty low-mid tier. Airpod pros being a more solid mid choice And the fit is gonna be different on ALL of them

by Anonymous 1 month ago

We just had one of these already today

by Judah61 1 month ago

I prefer the guaranteed quality and the click and play of real headphones or earphones. The same way bluetooth speakers are useful, but won't ever replace fully my proper stereo setup. Actual Apple branded Airpods are more a fashion accessory for some than anything else. See also Beats. You can do better for the price.

by Aydenhammes 1 month ago

I agree, wired sounds better in quality and is much more convenient.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

None would stay In my ears til I got the Jabra. If they are uncomfortable or don't fit, then you need a different brand

by GloomyEconomy 1 month ago

I take my earphones in and out of my ears all day, and as a woman, I rarely have pockets. I can't imagine not losing AirPods within the first day of owning them. Wired all the way!

by BigEcstatic2972 1 month ago

Same, still using my favorite cheap Sony earbuds. I gotta replace them every couple months so it's not as cost effective, but I just prefer their fit and sound, and I don't have to be stressed about losing them

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I've never found earbuds comfortable and no matter which wired or wireless I try with different sizes they always fall out. It's over-the-ear headphones or nothing for me.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I feel the exact same way, wireless headphones are an amazing technological achievement I also recall anticipating back in the day. Glad you said it.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Agreed with all of your points. One of the big things i prefer wireless is for working out, the wire sticking to your skin when sweating is one of the most annoying feelings to exist, with wireless you don't have that problem.

by Healthy_Crazy 1 month ago

Also, wired headphones look cooler

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I can't do anything over a nonchalant saunter without those bastards jumping ship out of my ear canals.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Same. I love my wired IEMs.

by Livid_Ad 1 month ago

Call me old fashioned but if something can be wired, I want it wired. Its just more reliable and oftentimes faster.
