Broccoli Stems are Superior to the Florets, amirite?
by Anonymous6 months ago
A legitimately unpopular opinion. Rare

I like all of it.

Idk friend, if I'm eating broccoli cheddar soup I prefer the stems to the florets as well. Call me crazy but they just mesh better, the stems are like carrots in many others

Surprisingly, I actually agree with you. I'm not a big fan of the texture lmao.

If you peel off the tough outside you get to the tasty insides. Good raw or gently stir fried.

me, they're so good and sweet

I'll agree the florets aren't more enjoyable, but that's where more of the nutrition is. It's also more expensive if you buy florets cuts.

Worth it.

I'm with you. You have to cook them differently, but the stems >> the florets
by Anonymous6 months ago
You should try broccolini. All stem not much floret. I love them.

You need to be on some kind of government watch list.

Hard agree lol I don't really like the leafy bit. Love the stem. I prefer broccolini for this reason but it costs more. My mum used to always snap the stems off so she wasn't paying for "dead weight" at checkout. But I use the whole stem and choose broccoli with a longer stem intentionally lol the stem is sweet and has a nicer texture.

I agree. You should try cooking with broccolini

I just eat all of it raw.

Totally

My wife one day sliced up the stem and airfried them with a touch of salt. The kids and I love em!

Omg noooo I had no idea how rare this was!!! Now I will say this when I am splurging and have the ability to dip the florets in copious amounts of ranch or blue cheese dressing, I love them. But in stuff like macaroni and cheese or stir fry I like the stems, sometimes lightly steamed. I also rice them!

Of course. That's the "white bread" side of broccoli—not much nutrition there, so no strong flavors. Personally, I don't like broccoli much but I can tolerate it so I eat it anyway because it's nutritionally important to eat vegetables.
