TV has always been this way. My dad has been complaining about this since before I was born in the 90s.

I hate how every season has to have some major impactful storyline, and then the next season has to build on the previous season and then do another equally major impactful storylines. I'd love more episodic shows with light serialization. "The Adventures Of (Blank), Daughter Of Xena: Warrior Empress" would be fun
