If they give Olympic medals for the best free throw shooter, fastest dribbler, longest dunk, and a dozen other aspects of basketball maybe he would. Swimming notoriously has waaaaay more opportunities to accumulate medals.

Got me there, I know of the SA stuff that happened but it was before I was born so I remember him more towards 2010s +

And it's taking place in Los Angeles that year! Although I think it would be an unpopular opinion because I would anticipate a counter like "this other athlete would be a better fit".

Out of the states people barely know him. Hear the name , but 90% have no idea what he do or done , or he is dead or alive. Besides 1 min of silence in start of a game would be too much...or we doing one for Pele and Maradona aswell?

Idk about other countries, but he was massive in China. Like, the most famous basketball player there by far

Even more than Yao Ming?

Hard no. Wonderful athlete as he was, the Olympic Games is about everybody - singling someone out in memorium shouldn't be the done thing.

Save it for the 3008 Olympics

Kobe wouldn't have waited.

AI will tribute Kobe Bryant

Has an Olympics ever paid tribute to a person before?

No clue, but the logos normally reflect the city/county hosting the games. Feel like Kobe would represent Los angels just as well as anything else related specifically to LA. Their current logo isn't that great already

I can't see the Olympics with just one guy front & center. I don't think that's the way it's done.

I agree with this i think LA should represent Kobe in some fashion.
