+38 If you see a bumper sticker that says "Honk if you like pizza," you should honk if you like pizza. amirite?

by Rbernhard 10 months ago

Not validating somebodies bumper sticker that they probably forgot is even on their car Confusing the 20 other drivers in earshot who are now probably distracted from the road as they try to figure out why somebody is honking (because honking is a crucial part of the safety features of a vehicle and people generally don't honk without a reason to) I know which option an intelligent person would pick.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

my favorite was "honk if you love fat bitches"

by Anonymous 10 months ago

See in Houston people would honk though….

by Mysterious-Idea-3294 10 months ago

In San Antonio they would be honking 24/7. Got some big women in San Antonio

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Heard there's a lot of live stock out there, and I'm not talking about animals

by Mysterious-Idea-3294 10 months ago

What they got Chuck?

by Jazzlike-Yam 10 months ago

I don't know about the USA or other countries, but in my country, that would be illegal because you can only honk as a warning of danger

by Substantial_Comb 10 months ago

In the USA this is definitely not the case or at least there's not a specific statute or law that I'm aware of that applies directly. If you unnecessarily honk and it is somehow determined that it was the defining factor in causing an incident you MIGHT be held liable but again I haven't ever heard of that happening. People, at least where I live, will honk even when they're just annoyed. If you take too long to get off the line at a green light or something like that.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

I agree, if it's a bumper sticker don't actually honk, but if someone's standing on the sidewalk holding a sign that says to honk, you better honk!

by FabulousMaterial3258 10 months ago

Evidently it is an unpopular opinion, as I had already been led to believe. In my process of thinking, if I were to place a bumper sticker like above on my car, I am genuinely inviting others to share with me the fact that they too like pizza. A simple tap of their horn behind me could bring a smile to my face, or help turn around a rough morning. There is of course a distinction between that and laying on their horn because I'm driving slower than they want, erratically, or if I cut them off. That wouldn't be a pizza lovers honk at all, and I'd have to address my driving accordingly.

by Rbernhard 10 months ago

I 100% refuse to believe that if someone tapped their horn at you, your first reaction wouldn't be annoyance, regardless of your bumper sticker.

by Ok_Life8473 10 months ago

Cool but what's more important..you getting a small smile, or not making a bunch of people think there might be danger in the area?

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Do you have a bumper sticker that says 'honk if you like pizza'?

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Not yet

by Rbernhard 10 months ago

Maybe a Christmas gift.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

What if I'm horny? Should I honk? (But, no, you shouldn't honk in traffic for what's essentially a non-traffic reason. The horn is meant to alert other drivers that something's wrong, about to go wrong, or that the need attention. Focusing on driving your 4000lb machine, not what people's bumper stickers say)

by Lionelschowalte 10 months ago

If their bumper sticker requests you share that information with them, I say certainly.

by Rbernhard 10 months ago

Its supposed to be a joke, like "if you honk at me, it must be because you like pizza, not because of something i did"

by Anonymous 10 months ago

It's not a request, it's a response to if someone honks at them

by Sarai41 10 months ago

That's just straight up illegal to do, at least where I'm from.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

I wish cars had different tones of horns. Like a unique tone for different scenarios such as, but not limited to the following: -WTF?!?!? -hey, I know you. -hurry up and go. -danger! -get outta the passing lane -you are missing a head light -that was nice of you to let them over Sometimes I wanna give a courtesy honk, but don't for fear that any honking is bad honking.

by Schmelerjohann 10 months ago

I agree. I don't know if you're familiar with the YouTuber Mark Robert, but he's a former NASA engineer who has made tons of interesting projects, which includes a series of varying levels of car horns. These include some of the most polite sounding chirp-chirps, all the way to installing full freight train horns into cars that are capable of shattering glass. If you like fun engineering I'd highly recommend checking him out.

by Rbernhard 10 months ago

So what's the sticker guy and the cars around supposed to interpret the honk as when something meaningful goes wrong? How do they discern between "I like pizza" and "you almost hit that pedestrian, idiot"?

by Anonymous 10 months ago

The length of time I guess

by Anonymous 10 months ago

The length of what time? The whole point of a horn is to signal something imminent.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

The length of time that you…press on the horn…?

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Yeah idk why it's so hard to comprehend for some people

by Anonymous 10 months ago

How is that meaningful to anything? Is the guy driving supposed to time out your horn before reacting? Should you send a Morse code message? How long is "short"? What does a medium length horn mean? By the time you have any time to process any of that, the pedestrian has been run over. Horns have a purpose. It's stupid to dilute that purpose when it's a safety concern.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

It's not that deep my dude

by Anonymous 10 months ago

I agree. It's incredibly not deep. A car horn should not be ambiguous.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

The horn is an emergency device and should not be used outside of emergencies

by Longjumping-Cell6712 10 months ago

Only in North America, the horn is much more valuable tool for driving in other countries Like honking when you pass someone, honking when you come to an intersection. Its used to let people know you're there

by Prestigious_Pin_1671 10 months ago

That sounds loud and ineffective

by No-Tradition 10 months ago

Like a little tap, don't lay on the horn & it works great. I much prefer driving in other countries

by Prestigious_Pin_1671 10 months ago

Pass someone you know I get but when you arrive at an intersection, just why? You're just going to stand still

by No-Tradition 10 months ago

Still feels ineffective to me, either the speed limit is so high that the cars approaching won't hear your horn and when they do it's too late or the speed limit is lower but then you should be able to solve it yourself if you're trying to enter a road

by No-Tradition 10 months ago

I will agree without contest that emergency vehicle sounds/sirens should be illegal to play in any music/commercials on the radio, that's just overtly dangerous and misleading. I do believe though that the language of car honking can express more nuance, though.

by Rbernhard 10 months ago

Most people like pizza, I'm not even wasting the watts needed to provide to the horn in validating that.

by Spare_End_3801 10 months ago

Is this a trick question? Of course you should do what the bumper sticker says.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

do not do this.

by sharon87 10 months ago

Horns in vehicles should be outlawed. They're nothing but a noise pollution outlet for assholes.

by hintzandre 10 months ago

Now THATs unpopular

by Anonymous 10 months ago

It's a warning for weirdos who don't know how to drive for some reason

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Wow that's great until a driver who hasn't spotted you starts to pull out in front of you. But hey at least there's lEsS nOiSe PoLlUtIoN

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Since I'm driving at a reasonable speed and always paying attention, I easily avoid a collision. As I have for 35 years. Honking does nothing.

by hintzandre 10 months ago

Oh get bent. Accidents can happen to the best drivers and you're arrogant af if you think the fact you drive safely means they can't happen to you. What you're talking about is what every driver should be doing all the time. The horn is for when it turns out to not be enough.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

I'll secretly want you to crash. Cars are too loud as it is

by Anonymous 10 months ago

"Cars are too loud as it is" TF does this even mean? With more electric cars on the road, if anything, cars are quieter than they've ever been.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

to acknowledge and validate their bumper sticker Dude, random people on the road aren't responsible for validating you and your poor choice of vehicle decor.

by ldare 10 months ago

That's illegal

by Anonymous 10 months ago

How about don't be a dingus and don't use your horn unless you're trying to warn someone?

by Anonymous 10 months ago

They must love pizza in India.

by Mcglynnduncan 10 months ago

If I saw a homk if ya like pizza sticker, I'd give you a honk and little hand wave!

by Previous_Friend3210 10 months ago

Not possible in Germany. It's forbidden by the law to honk when there is no danger. :D

by Sauerjustine 10 months ago

I wish my car had two separate honks. One for "omg you're gonna hit me" and one for "hey I like what you like on your bumper sticker", or a beep for when I want you to merge in front of me. A "kind beep" for lack of a better term

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Nice try, Dominoes delivery guy.

by Real_Profession456 10 months ago

When I first started driving, my dad replaced my horn with a boat "ah-wo-ga" horn. It discouraged me from developing the habit of randomly beeping at others. I still have that deeply ingrained and rarely ever honk my horn.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Ngl, If I had a sticker on my car I put ages ago and it suddenly gets validated by random people honking at me, I'd be scared and anxious from forgetting about that sticker LOOOL

by Anonymous 10 months ago

No. Honking for no reason is stupid, and especially when truckers do it for stupid children.

by Ok_Life8473 10 months ago

I did this for like a decade not getting the actual point of the sticker…

by Mcculloughelsa 10 months ago

I went to a cdl school and the instructor corrected me for NOT blowing the horn when a kid did the arm pump. As a grown man I still do the arm pump and smile everytime a trucker does it.

by Hmcglynn 10 months ago

Yeah, but then I would have to interact with someone...yeah, no.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

I'm with you, OP. I will honk when I like a thing.

by Difficult-Put7168 10 months ago

I think it will maybe be positive for the bumper sticker owner and the owner and be annoying/disorienting for everyone else Also think many have then because "you honk at me? Must mean you like pizza" and not "honk if you like pizza" The kids part, for one they're kids and most times I think other people can see the kids begging for a honk so it don't make them confused

by No-Tradition 10 months ago

As a straight man, the "Honk if you're horny" backfired on me several times. It's all fun and games until the dude in the truck greets me with an intimate eye stare

by No-Decision 10 months ago
