E.g Johnny Cage in MK1...but this happens to all games, there is no point to play best lines in chess on high level - every sequence was played to death. You memorize and memorize or you add skill test on agility like try to out micro pro Starcraft 2 player. I recently started playing fighting games and to my frustration after 50 hours of training in MK1 I get to your conclusion - learn to win not to play. Learn frame data,learn places where you can abuse it and play poking wars until you win initiative to get a kombo. Some games are fun as ignorant beginner - mid player.
