I'm in my late 30s, I've 2 kids, a mortgage, blah blah blah. Never going to give you up is older than I am and was a regularly played and well loved song BEFORE the meme came out. They were playing it in 80s bars and sometimes normal pubs, clubs and nightclubs before it became a meme and went from "popular 80s song" to possibly one of the most well known songs ever for it's own reason. Yes, old doesn't mean classic but man you chose the wrong example.

Lots of words are over used. What adjective should be used as an alternative (with similar context) that doesn't offend you? Herbie is a classic IMO though.

It's relative really. What's classic to me isn't for someone born in 1970, just as something they consider classic just being old and antiquated to me (a person born just before the turn of the millennium)

"Never Gonna Give You Up" is definitely a classic. As is Encino Man.

I agree, never gonna give you up has most of its popularity from rick rolling, which I guess is old enough to make it classic more as a meme than as a song though.

As a meme, 100% classic. But as a song? You gotta be kidding.

Classic: Having lasting significance or worth; enduring. If only you understood the word.

Oh, Professor, what would we do without you?

Anybody who doesn't see my point, you can keep your long-winded explanations of how it makes no sense, ok? Classic.
