+26 A whisk is a useless kitchen tool, amirite?

by Anonymous 7 months ago

Don't kid yourselves, given the chance a whisk would kill you and everyone you love.

John? Have you upgraded from pencils?

You can feel the consistency and density change better with a hand whisk over an electric one. Someone with skill/experience will know when they're 'done' whisking on feel alone, or can fine tune the whisking so as to not overwork it while still progressing it. Again, things you can't really achieve with an electric whisk.

"Whisking" just sounds more satisfying than saying "so there I was in the kitchen, straight forkin' it"

The handle is larger and area of effect is larger with a whisk. Using a fork to whisk anything that takes more than a few seconds is dumb cause your hand will fatigue faster and it will get results slower.

Gravy and roux are immensely easier with a whisk

by tyrell89 7 months ago

Yes, anything that needs to thicken slowly needs a whisk

by Anonymous 7 months ago

That's actually a good use case

You can acheive the same results but not quite as well with a fork. but they'e similar. A whisk seems to hand certain viscosity's of stuff to mix better than a fork though. If you don't have a whisk a fork is about as good. But a whisk is better. My electric whisk broke but we still use the detachable end as the disk and it works great. It's a win, a small win but still a win.

A whisk just eases the process for a lot of things

Whisks keep the messes to a minimum

by Cautious-Treacle-932 7 months ago

I find myself making more mess using a whisk than when i use a fork

The whisk is useful when I'm engaged in some head chef/prep cook role play with my lover.

Yikes 😂

You are wrongalongadingdong. A whisk, while only used once or twice a year, has many benefit. Allow me to explain: You're making scrambled eggs.

I was almost rude. How dare you attack my precious whisk! I prefer the hand held over an electric almost any day, only times I use the electric one is when I am making batter for baking and it needs to mix for a longer time

by Anonymous 7 months ago

Stirring with anything else sounds like whisk-y business.

There are definitely things a whisk can be used for effectively. This is just flat out wrong mostly due to your lack of knowledge surrounding the definition of the word useless

Tell us you're a terrible cook, without telling us you're a terrible cook.

(Nerdy conspiracy) a whisk is alot wider then any traditional fork and a whisk would have more points of contact into the mixture then a fork would, probably allowing for faster mixing, also since a whisk effectively spins around a center its alot faster and more efficient due to less time for every rotation. ✍🤓

A handheld manual hammer is pretty useless. If you're pulling nails, you can achive the same results by using a crowbar. If you're building a house you can get it done far quicker with a nailgun.
