Well for the first time in anyone's lifetime there is a genuine possibility of electing a guy who actively tried to overturn election results and has outright stated intentions to change the way elections work as we know it. Every election is important but I do think the stakes are slightly higher than usual on this one

The reason this one and 2020 for that matter are and were critical is that the fate of democracy rests on the outcome. Trump says, and on this point only, I believe him that elections will no longer be necessary if he wins now. He says he'll be a dictator if he assumes office I guess he'll get that as well. If a Democrat wins, as happened in 2020. The crisis passed for four years. Same this time. We certainly need stronger guard rails but that doesn't mean this is critical
