+46 Flowers don't smell good, they smell like plants. amirite?

by Elegant-Sign 9 months ago

You might need to use a nettinpot to clear your sinuses.. and maybe get some allergy meds. A healthy nose should smell the differences.

by Positive_Cut6111 9 months ago

Even with a clogged nose I can smell a rose with a strong fragrance

by Anonymous 9 months ago

My stepson couldn't smell flowers until we started treating it.

by Positive_Cut6111 9 months ago

Flowers don't smell like grass

by Anonymous 9 months ago

And usually they don't smell like durian fruit.

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Wait, I think me and OP are the same... flowers just smell like any other plant to me

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Yeah, that's not normal

by Anonymous 9 months ago

It's really not that much of a difference

by Anonymous 9 months ago

I think your sniffer is broke

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Hey don't talk about my sniffer

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Mine is, I can actually smell a bit more when I get very hungry

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Today OP finds out they can't smell.

by Adventurous-Main 9 months ago

I think you need to smell more kinds of flowers before you make your final decision.

by Independent_Clerk 9 months ago

I like the smell of grass

by gusmclaughlin 9 months ago

freshly mowed grass is soo good

by Anonymous 9 months ago

But lawnmower gasoline beats it by a mile

by Anonymous 9 months ago

i will never understand this. you're certainly not alone in this sentiment, but I get physically unwell from the smell of gasoline.

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Bouquets of roses at the store don't really smell like anything. I used to sell rose bushes, and they're heavenly. You need to smell the right flowers

by No-Sprinkles8803 9 months ago

See an EENT doctor, there's something wrong with your sense of smell if you think that way

by Anonymous 9 months ago

there's over 380,000 different types of plants in the world, what would simply 'plant' smell like lol

by Anonymous 9 months ago

I think it is saying since there is that many why are flowers supposedly the only one that smells good. Some flowers do, some smell like nothing. But lots of other plants can also smell nice and aren't bright yp as much.

by Pitiful-Height-1503 9 months ago

How many times have you had covid? Any other smells you can't detect?

by elody48 9 months ago

Which type of grass? Because people can smell the difference between some of those too.

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Lavender would like to beg to differ

by Anonymous 9 months ago

We have a snowball viburnum in our front yard. When it comes into bloom, you can smell it from down the street. Opening the windows in spring fills the house with its sweet fragrance. We call it the smelly bush.

by Nshields 9 months ago

You're right OP it's just big Blossom pushing their flower agenda on all of us. You need to head to the nearest flower nursery and protest. Down with big Blossom and their flowery cartel.

by Lonely_Delay2938 9 months ago

Big Blossom destroyed, Big Bubbles and Big Buttercup reportedly speechless but nervous.

by Krath 9 months ago

I used to feel this way until I smelled some blooming wild flowers, and there's a noticeable punch they pack that a bundle of cut flowers doesn't have.

by Anonymous 9 months ago

This is why I'm glad to live in a country where gardening is the national hobby lol, flowers come in countless varieties and many of them smell delicious. Not all have a noticeable smell. But they absolutely don't all smell like generic "plant". Many flowers have their own unique scent. I don't know how you couldn't appreciate those scents unless you have an issue with your sense of smell, or you haven't smelled enough flowers.

by Dena71 9 months ago

There are a lot of flowers that don't have a scent other than "plant" - some even smell like hay. However, some smell amazing, like perfume! Hyacinths are my absolute favorite. They smell so wonderful! I collect a house plant that is called "Hoya", and many types of Hoya have flowers that smell identical to Hyacinths. Others smell like lemon or butterscotch or roses!

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Maybe something is wrong with your sense of smell.

by Jakubowskikarel 9 months ago

Some flowers have distinctive fragrance. Some do not. They make colognes and perfumes and soaps and candles with the ones that do. Can't do that with grass.

by Anonymous 9 months ago

You can't smell roses? I have several rosebushes in my yard and I don't even have to be near them and I can smell them. My entire yard smells like roses and it's so lovely. Oh gosh, I just feel so sad for you that you can't smell roses, can you smell any flower? Lavender? Have you ever smelled wild mint? I have all these in my yard and I get so many compliments on such a great smelling yard lol

by ZealousidealBand6713 9 months ago

Bro there are scented candles for a reason. Jasmine, lemongrass, eucalyptus all smell different.

by ApprehensiveBake 9 months ago

Most people actually do prefer floral scents to other plant smells. They do tend to smell sweeter.

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Wasn't it OutKast that said roses really smell like poopoo?

by Anonymous 9 months ago

we're against the world brother

by Elegant-Sign 9 months ago

It's because flowers smell good, that's where the stereotype came from. It's an objective fact.

by Luigihickle 9 months ago

What kind of flowers has bro been smelling? Idk most of the ones I've smelled don't smell like grass.

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Try to smell some good roses. They don't smell like plants. Most flowers do, but not all

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Plant smells are nice

by vstokes 9 months ago

Sweet Pea smells great. You need to clear your nose out!

by Dizzy_Maize 9 months ago

search for these flowers and your opinion may change: Plumeria Moonflower Gardenia

by kozeyefren 9 months ago

Time to consult a doc OP

by Fun-Finish 9 months ago

Try a Korean Spice Viburnum and report back.

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Smell oleander, yellow jessamine, gardenia, and there are fragrant roses, there are also fragrant orchids although they're hard to raise so not common. There is one type of orchid called Sherry Berry that smells like vanilla candy.

by Adrianadonnelly 9 months ago

It sounds like you have issues with your smell. How do you reach "well it must be the entire world not me" conclusion before considering this...?

by Anonymous 9 months ago

It's not really an opinion though. Floral scents are objectively different to other plant smells, like leaves, for example.

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Your nose not working is a physical defect, not an opinion....

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Flowers objectively don't smell like grass though. This is like someone with colorblindness having the opinion that two different colors are the same.

by Clementinanolan 9 months ago

This is actually really sad.

by ernserprice 9 months ago

Your teens are hitting you pretty hard, huh?

by jefferypaucek 9 months ago

Also lilac is the prettiest smell in the world, in my opinion.

Smell a gardenia you will change your mind

by Destineykeebler 9 months ago

Thank you.

by Anonymous 9 months ago

actual fresh roses smell amazing

by walkercassandre 9 months ago

Flowers sold in store are notorious for having no scent or carry mell of pesticide residues. sometimes have a faint smell of flowers.

by lmraz 9 months ago

After reading this, I may need to speak to my doctor. I've never smelled a plant that smelled good. Always dit and mildew.

by Anonymous 9 months ago

You've never been to a tropical country, have you?

by Anonymous 9 months ago

you should try to smell stronger flowers like peonies or lilacs or lavender.

by Anonymous 9 months ago

I have a really bad sense of smell too! It doesn't mean I can't smell. The things I can smell I can smell well. Like I can't just walk into a public washroom and not think it smells bad. But what I've realized is that I suck at noticing faint smells or distinguishing the differences between certain kinds of smells like flowers for example. I've been improving my sense of smell by literally practicing. Just being more intentional and mindful when I smell things and over time I've been able to notice an improvement.

by Organic-Country4240 9 months ago

Roses really smell like poo-ooh-ooh

by No-Performer 9 months ago

Dude this is not an opinion. You just have problems with your smelling

by Uriel70 9 months ago

As someone with garbage sinuses, I can tell you that flowers are hit or miss for me. But this is not an issue with flowers. This is an issue with your sense of smell. I think that's been said here a lot, so I'll jump to the next step Look at nasonex and netti pots (use distilled water or boil for a minute+ to kill any bad things in the water). That will help your nose have a healthy environment to heal. Do you have issues with other scents? What about food or your sense of taste? An ENT might be worthwhile if it's still messed up.

by amayajones 9 months ago

Have you tried scented flowers like roses, sweet peas or chamomile?

by CrazyComposer 9 months ago

Roses are the most obvious of most other flowers. Honeysuckles also have an aroma that's obvious.

by Anonymous 9 months ago

You need to clear out your nose. Flowers smell very good, a light, pretty nature scent that is super sweet and unique depending on the flower.

by mankunding 9 months ago

People smell fruit salad?

by Unfair-Meeting1629 9 months ago

It's not a thing but if it's under your nose you'd smell it, it's nice and fruity (obviously), very different from smelling flowers (which do smell like grass or something)

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Have you gotten your nose/ sense of smell checked before....? Plants smell different. Flowers smell vastly different to grass or trees, not every flower even smells the same. If you are not interested/ don't see the appeal - that's fine and maybe actually unpopular.... but seemingly being unable to actually notice a difference doesn't sound quite normal to me.

by Anonymous 9 months ago

You know, I've never been able to differentiate much between the smells of flowers. They all smell the same to my nose, some stronger than others but still the same smell.

by Yvette07 9 months ago

"flowers smell like plants" Alright, now you might be surprised...

by Anonymous 9 months ago

What does smell good in your opinion?

by pablo59 9 months ago

They smell like sex.

by Anonymous 9 months ago

You've come across the infamous cum tree.
