I rarely see people argue over whether he has his doctorate or not. Yes, he got the education and has the right to make his suffix "Dr." I think most people's issue with him is that he is quite unethical. He brings vulnerable people on his show and humiliates them for his own entertainment. That's not respectable behavior.

I am specifically referring to people who call him a fraud for saying he's a doctor. I don't care how much you think he sucks, that doesn't invalidate the academic credential he holds.

...I mean, he has no license to practice being a doctor yet calls himself one just because of him technically have a PhD. Would you be ok with your medical doctor saying they are a doctor and can perform on you, though they aren't licensed to give you any medical treatment?

Dr Phill did practice and he let his license expire. People take that show to seriously even dr Phill call it DR Phill because it's a show not him.

He's an unethical pos who takes advantage of people under the guise of being a doctor. Couple that wit the fact his license was taken from him and yeah, people rip the piss out of him like he deserves.

He's not a fraud because of any degree he has he's a fraud because he's morally bankrupt like it's unclear how real any of these situations are but if they are he's sided with abuser most of the time.

To be fair we associate doctor with helping people I don't think anyone ever watched that show and had that though I imagine the sentiment is "he shouldn't be a doctor" or "he shouldn't be keep his qualifications if he's going to abuse them".

Thinking someone shouldn't be a doctor, for however valid a reason, doesn't mean you can definitively say they're not a doctor and call them a fraud for referring to themselves as such. It's an academic credential that he holds.
