+41 Sarcasm isn't a love language, amirite?

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Sarcastic banter though I think can be loving and wholesome. You can be sarcastic without being rude or using insults. And if the two ppl involved know it's just banter then who cares. If someone is being snarky to you though and you hate it, tell them. If they don't adjust, ditch. Easy

I respect this.

the problem is less with sarcasm and more with straight up insults being called sarcasm. sarcasm is about wits but unfortunately witless idiots who couldn't differentiate between sarcasm and insults started appropriating the term and calling their witless insults, sarcasm. it takes 2 highly compatible and very understanding people to not only appreciate and acknowledge each other's wit, but also only use it when appropriate.

Oh sure, go ahead and tell me my natural go-to language isn't a love language!

Your natural go-to language isn't a love language.

Sounds like you are missing the joke

by cydneymarvin 9 months ago

Wrong. Sarcasm isn't your love language. Doesn't mean that nobody enjoys it.

That's why it's called opinion

by Different-Bass3174 9 months ago

I try to take people at their word.. I believe that's called trust.

If you have zero wiggle room for tone and expression when you're having a conversation, then I feel a little bit bad for you. Must not be a very fun way to live your life, unable to budge even a bit from the literal words you're given. If a partner of yours (doesn't have to be real, just a hypothetical) told you with the biggest, most loving smile on their face, that they hate you more than anything, would you then break up with them? After all, you take them at their word, and they just told you that they hate your guts.

Do you mock things you care about?

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Sorry I read "move" instead of "mock", hence my confusion. Yes I mock things I care about, obviously. Why would I mock things I don't care about?

by Romagueralaurie 9 months ago

You read that correctly. We had to correct my auto text. I own that one.

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Right, so your sarcastic reply was an asshole thing to do. Thank you for your honesty.

by Romagueralaurie 9 months ago

Asshole reply? What asshole reply?

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Precisely

by Romagueralaurie 9 months ago

I think you're taking me too literally.

by Anonymous 9 months ago

You admit that you wrote a thing wrong, and when I ask for clarification, instead of correcting yourself in your reply you pretend I misunderstood. That could be seen as bad faith. Precisely.

by Romagueralaurie 9 months ago

No, you said you read one thing. I admitted you read that thing and told you why Iyou read that thing. Maybe you aren't taking me literally enough.

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Precisely.

by Anonymous 9 months ago

Lol. See, you can be an ass too!

by Romagueralaurie 9 months ago

What makes you think I care about you?
