On occasion, people don't realize what they have until it's gone

But why can't people just come to terms that someone doesn't like them without saying they're losing out on something. In the persons mind they're not losing out cause they don't like you regardless of your good traits

It's about comforting the person that was rejected. Reminding them that it was about that one person not seeing how good they are, rather than they aren't worthy. The fact that the person who rejected may not realise they are the ones missing out doesn't matter. If I'm saying it's their loss I'm saying ‘there is nothing wrong with you, you are still a great person who deserves love, this guy didn't recognise it and that's his mistake, so don't let it get you down'.

Your loss for not getting it

by That-Eggplant8946 5 months ago

I disagree. You know the value of something only when you don't have that. That's what it's supposed to mean

by nicolasdonny 5 months ago

It's just polite and a social convention

by vonruedenward 5 months ago

Yeah that's a coping mechanism. It ain't a loss or a gain because that will be known after maybe 5-6 years.

You're talking about one specific scenario. It's appropriate for far more situations than that.

I do think sometimes people need to be adults about confronting their own limitations. Sometimes, nobody did anything wrong to warrant the breakup, they're just incompatible, and they deserve to be reminded that they're worth being with even if this person didn't want them.

It's basically saying they don't know how good they had it which is true because alot of times those ex's tend to return
