+32 I find Jim Carrey insufferable, amirite?

by Brandidamore 8 months ago

Well alrighty then

by Maverick24 8 months ago

Big gulps, huh? ... Whelp, see you later.

by Anonymous 8 months ago

No, God no! You just gave me flashbacks of elementary school, when Ace Ventura came out and Every. Single. Kid. was repeating lines from the movie constantly, not even with good comedic timing.

by Anonymous 8 months ago

Ace Ventura PTSD

by Maverick24 8 months ago

I take it you do not sanction his buffoonery.

by Pure_Project_5755 8 months ago

Dumb and dumber is one of my favorite movies of all time. So many great quotes from that movie. Are you sure you didn't watch the sequels or whatever they're calling the other ones? Those were painful

by Rkeeling 8 months ago

I watched the 1994 one but tbf I didn't finish it. I tried to like it, and I even looked up some of the "funniest scenes" to encourage myself to keep watching, but I just realized it's not for me.

by Brandidamore 8 months ago

Well, I won't say it's a favourite movie of all time. I also found this one funny, largely because of the Farrley brothers' dark comedic writing. I agree with your overall point, though. His physical humour is not my cup of tea. I couldn't stand Ace Ventura, Liar Liar, Me Myself, and Irene... It's odd, though, how he can put in strong dramatic performances that are kind of reminiscent of Robin Williams.

by Anonymous 8 months ago

That's kind of funny because I find the person insufferable, but I enjoy his films.

by Anonymous 8 months ago

Same

by Anonymous 8 months ago

I agree absolutely. Personally I don't find his humor style funny at all, which is a quite contrast from a lot of millennials who find him funny. My parents didn't like his films either so I didn't grow up with them. Eventually, when I did watch one I just didn't find his humor funny- still do not.

by yasmeen20 8 months ago

I'm the opposite. I love most of his comedic movies. Especially the ones from the 90s and early 2000s (Liar Liar is probably my favorite) but I find Jim Carrey as a person is insufferable. Most of his interviews he tries to act like he's super deep and just comes off as arrogant and self righteous.

by Remarkable-Tap1033 8 months ago

I didn't like when he criticized Kick Ass 2 because of the violence. He read the script, filmed the movie and accepted the money, but suddenly the violence is not OK?

by Jazzlike_Ganache 8 months ago

I only liked him on In Living Color. When he started making movies he became annoying to me.

by Anonymous 8 months ago

Every time I think of Jim Carrey, I think of The Mask when he says "It's party time! P-A-R-T-why? Because I gotta!"

by MoreStrawberry5263 8 months ago

To be fair to Jim, that was a comic book first and they pulled some of those cheesy lines right from the source material.

by Different_Whole 8 months ago

As a kid born in the 90s, I can't disagree more with this take

by Matilda38 8 months ago

The 90s is one of my favorite decades of films but I don't like a lot of comedies from that era. The only ones that have stuck with me are the later ones like Office Space and Big Lebowski.

by Brandidamore 8 months ago

Yeah those movies are more built for adult audiences, Jim Carrey was geared towards children so it makes sense why you don't like his stuff as an adult. But I would never critique his work from an adult perspective because I have such a strong memory of the great experiences I had watching his films as a kid.

by Matilda38 8 months ago

Timely.

by Anonymous 8 months ago

Out of interest, how old are you? As someone who was the right age for Jim Carrey, he was incredible, but I would say that some comedy just doesn't age well. Part of the reason is that he redefined mainstream comedy so then everything was either a copy or a reaction to that.

by Grand-Today-1105 8 months ago

Me, myself and Irene is a good movie that handles his buffoonery in a way that it kind of makes sense? Like it fits and technically isn't too much cause he's also playing the other version of himself that's all reserved

by Kuhlmantheo 8 months ago

It was mostly while he was with Jenny McCarthy. He was along for the ride, but still helped spread misinformation.

by Anonymous 8 months ago

Those titties will make you do some things.

by Different_Whole 8 months ago

Lol, "misinformation". You probably think fluoride in your water supply is a good thing too.

by Anonymous 8 months ago

Troll somewhere else.

by Anonymous 8 months ago

I'm serious, not trolling

by Anonymous 8 months ago

Was he really part of that, or was it more his partner at the time, Jenny McCarthy?

by Anonymous 8 months ago

If you stand behind someone giving a speech about vaccines causing autism at multiple public rallies, you are indorsing the message.

by Anonymous 8 months ago

Try ace ventura

by Anonymous 8 months ago

i total agree. unfortunately i don't find dumb faces funny sue me

by Warm-Fisherman-7869 8 months ago

I'm sort of a comic book purist but I love campy superhero flicks haha. I'll try giving D&D another shot someday and hope it leaves a better impression on me.

by Brandidamore 8 months ago

I wouldn't strain yourself tbf - it is very marmite humour. Personally I loved the absurdity of it - like when Jeff Daniels had his toenails trimmed with I think it was a chainsaw or a sander...

by Ydenesik 8 months ago

I feel the same about Jack Black

by Anonymous 8 months ago

why don't you cry about it, saddle bags

by Anonymous 8 months ago

Watch The Number 23 if you wanna see him be serious. He really has range although he's known mostly for comedy

by Suspicious_Pause_548 8 months ago

LAA-HOOO-SAH-HHHHER

by Anonymous 8 months ago

Ace Ventura was much better

by Weary-Environment199 8 months ago

Yes.

by EnvironmentalBuy 8 months ago

I assumed this would be about his politics but to say Dumb and Dumber was not funny is the biggest swing and a miss take there is

by Rennertaryn 8 months ago

Bro, you couldn't have picked a dumber movie to base your opinion of an actor on, I think it's probably just that specific style of comedy you didn't like as you seem to like his style of comedy already. (Truman Show, Yes man) Watch Bruce Almighty, Liar Liar, Me Myself & Irene if you want his "shtick" but not too much of it. Watch the Ace Ventura's, Batman Forever or The Mask if you want him dialled up another notch. Dumb and Dumber is very much an outlier tho imo and not one I come back to as I'm not a fan of slapstick.

by Rich-Alps3423 8 months ago

I generally hate his kind of overacting by some comedic actors. But JIm Carrery brings a special something to films. Maybe it's nostalgia, but I love most of his films. Check out Liar Liar. He's animated in a way that's due to what happens in the film. My favourite Jim Carey film.

by mfranecki 8 months ago

Liar liar is funny for me. Jim's inner struggle with not lying is well done.

by Anonymous 8 months ago

how is this unpopular lmao the man is hated in lots of circles

by nicolas09 8 months ago

I love Mr. Poppers Pinguine

by Anonymous 8 months ago

I adore Dumb and Dumber. Have watched it many times. Same with the Ace Venturers. They have cheered me up many times.

by Alarmed_Series 8 months ago

After seeing his behind the scenes method acting for Man on the Moon, hard agree

by Anonymous 8 months ago

I'm sure he feels the same way.

by Anonymous 8 months ago

Almost a certainty OP is Tommy Lee Jones.

by Neither-Refuse 8 months ago

Why now? You need to go out of your way to encounter Jim Carrey these days. JC is fun.

by Immanueltowne 8 months ago

Liar liar is one of my faves

by Anonymous 8 months ago

Creepy. Like he's wearing a mask

by Anonymous 8 months ago

Yeah, he was funny and fresh for a while but there's only so long it stays that way. I still admire the guy but I usually change the channel if his movies come on now.

by Anonymous 8 months ago

Finkle and Einhorn...

by New_Piano 8 months ago

Ok so you don't like one particular movie so therefore the actor himself is insufferable? Despite the fact that you like other movies that he's in? I want you to take a minute to think about that logic

by Gulgowskijanick 8 months ago

I think my favorite with him is Me, Myself and Irene. A hilarious dirty romp of a film

by Anonymous 8 months ago

This isn't unpopular, this happens every sonic movie

by Mobile_Report_9153 8 months ago

Perhaps not the funniest to everyone (what is?), but he gave some of the best all-time physical performances in his popular films from the 90's. Perhaps that counts for something.

by Different_Whole 8 months ago

Only lame wannabe intellectual Tool fans say insufferable

by Anonymous 8 months ago

yeah same lol. even with ADHD and autism i just find it ungodly annoying - it's hit or miss, i loved him in the Truman Show

by Harmonyrempel 8 months ago

Super sane. Loved that stuff hates that other stuff. I just don't like goofy. Will Ferral is another one I can't like.

by Anonymous 8 months ago

I completely agree with you. I like James, not necessarily Jim. The whole character. Nails on a chalkboard for me. I think for him too, he is actually cynical about peoples like for 'Jim' being a non person and just a persona.

by Anonymous 8 months ago

You just don't like people with ADHD. We're loud and obnoxious and not for everyone.

by Anonymous 8 months ago

no im 100% sure that's not what it isπŸ’€πŸ’€ he's insufferable to even those WITH adhd

by Warm-Fisherman-7869 8 months ago
