+48 Hotels are better than Airbnb, amirite?

by Anniekerluke 1 week ago

That's a popular opinion.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Not unpopular. Airbnb is only good for large groups to stay together for longer periods than a single night and save money. For 1 or 2 people, hotels are always better and after all fees, the price is comparable anyway.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Do you really save money anymore? Compared a recent trip where the inlaws insisted on an Airbnb. We could have gotten rooms for the 3 families in a nice hotel for less, and not had to worry about cleaning, towels, laundry, etc. I think it used to be cheaper

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Yeah honestly finding cheap single rooms isn't that difficult from my experience? You can sort by price and view any random fees before checkout anyways.

Problem with air bnbs is that you are encouraging pushing out those locals you love to meet.

by Strange-Warning9294 1 week ago

No, not true. I stay with the hosts who live in their homes. I'm not taking away an apartment that someone else could rent. Most AirBnB's in the cities where I visit are hosted, not host-less.

At an Airbnb, with a kitchen you feel obligated to cook No I don't.. I mostly agree, I only do airbnbs these days when it's a large group. You can't beat booking a 10+ room multi million dollar cabin in the mountains with your friends, a hotel can't compare to that. It is also way cheaper than a hotel in that scenario. But for trips with just 2, hotel is way better unless you want to splurge for something nice and isolated.

If there's a kettle in the room, you feel obligated to tea.

Making any meals in a hotel sucks though. I like the option, especially breakfast. Spending a week eating out for every meal is a no go for me.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Not really an unpopular opinion. Unfortunately there aren't many options when trying to get a space with 6+ people.

For real. If a hotel let me reserve a room for multiple people I'd it even if meant using a sleeping bag

by Anonymous 1 week ago

100% depends on the Airbnb. I prefer a nice Airbnb to an equally nice hotel. I don't feel obligated to cook, and it's nice to have a full kitchen with plenty of space for beer and snacks. I'm also guessing you don't have kids. Airbnbs are so much better with kids.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

It just depends where you travel, there are areas / countries where Airbnb are a lot better, and other places where it's obviously hotels

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I prefer a hotel if it's only for 1 or 2 nights, but much prefer an AirBnb otherwise. That said, I do tend to stay in higher end hotels and AirBnbs, so guessing that makes a difference.

Mmmm I think this is an American thing. I've had no dramas with Airbnb in Europe and Australia. One or two nights a hotel is ok, anymore I go Airbnb as eating out all the time gets expensive plus it's nice to have a garden or whatever to relax in.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I've had terrible experiences with Airbnb in Europe. Very specific check in times where the person wanted to meet us. Actually really inconvenient compared to my experiences in America where it tends to be more automated.

This is correct.

This isn't unpopular. The only thing Airbnb or VRBO is good for is if you are going with a bunch of people or there are no hotels with two bedroom suites if you are traveling with kids. Otherwise hotels are way better. In the same ballpark price wise, you don't need to do chores before you leave, you know exactly what to expect.

Depends on the trip. Me and my wife: hotel. Getting together with multiple households: Airbnb.

I tried to use Airbnb only once and the host canceled on me with hours to go. Never again

by Illustrious_Gas 1 week ago

I think that is a popular opinion. I could never in a million years ever imagine doing Airbnb

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Depends on which Airbnb and which country you stayed in. Airbnb here doesn't require people to clean the house, do laundry. Many times I got the cleaners came to vacuum, mopping change bedsheets during my stays, they're not charging for it.

It's not unpopular hotels are good, Air bnb is hit or miss depending on the owner

by Intelligent-Lab 1 week ago

I am an avid airbnb lover and used to use them a lot. But lately with the prices, extra expectations, annoying owners etc hotels have become far easier. The only time I'll really use an airbnb over is if I want a two room place or need something in a hurry

by Medium-Struggle-7715 1 week ago

kapag nagbakasyon kami ni mister dapat bakasyon tulog at liesure lang sa bahay daming ginagawa.. tapos pati sa bakasyon magluluto at hugas pa kami? Di ko din bet sa AirBnb feeling ko di ako safe hehe

by Anonymous 1 week ago

AirBnB is good for traveling with bigger groups of people, but if it's just you or if you're with like a couple other people then hotels are better. Unless there's some really unique AirBnB that adds to the experience I don't ever feel obligated to cook though, and nicer hotel rooms sometimes have kitchens too

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I've never considered going to an Air BnB

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Not unpopular.Air b and bs are always awful experiences

by Anonymous 1 week ago

They aren't better when you're traveling with a bunch of kids and wanna bang your wife after a day of fun and sun.

This is corrects

I don't know about you, but when I'm on vacation, I'm not working my 9-5.. so there's that..

by Gracierobel 1 week ago

Is that an unpopular opinion? I completely agree. I had this same opinion about all these people who drag them campers around everywhere. Just get a room do what you want and when you're done just walk away from it.

by ObligationJaded 1 week ago

Honestly, you have to be a little creepy to like Airbnb.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

AirBnBs are for larger groups who don't want to lay around in a resort/hotel bar.
