If you view someone as nerdy there's a chance you unconsciously decided that they look unattractive to fit your brain's schema.

Henry Cavill. Conversation over.

He said most. Henry Cavill is one hell of an exception

Yeah I saw that, but Henry Cavill is proof that beautiful nerds exist. He's not a statistical anomaly, it's just his narrow minded perception of nerds. Donald Glover has a degree in Dramatic Writing, Mila Kunis plays WOW. Margot Robbie has an insane reading history. They're all incredible, but their hobbies are ‘nerdy'z

Nerdy people tend to be more introverted and surround themselves with people that are nerdy like themselves. In those groups looks don't matter, brains and common interests do.

I'm a nerd, but most man think I am seeeeexy.

Is cosplaying still considered nerdy? Cause some of those guys/gals are downright jacked to match their anime characters

As a nerd that likes other nerds, no I don't really agree. Nerdy looking and actual nerd are two different things, they only overlap sometimes.

I don't know... I find introverted girls attractive to be honest...

Well the term "nerd" has always been a stereotypical word for someone who's into something deep instead following social norm. So how do you expect to see them from a normal person's POV

I am married to the most nerdy guy....and he's a 6ft 4in Hungarian god with long dark hair and blue eyes. So...I do disagree with your opinion. eta - he's so damn sexy

Nerdy as in has likes gaming? Comicon? Lol because that's my husband, and he ain't ugly.

I feel like you see "nerdy" as an unattractive trait, which projects the idea that nerdy people are not good looking to you. Would you find them to be good looking if you didn't know they were a nerd, or is their nerdiness the first thing you notice, thus making them bad looking to you?

I guess it's more of a feedback loop, those kids who are average looking/ "ugly" (OP's words not mine) tend to be ignored by their peer. As they don't have anyone to socialise, they tend to develop hobbies that can be done alone ( example: playing sports,singing/ playing guitar as a part of a band, traveling, etc require a group of friends) Whereas, reading books/ surfing the web/ building diy projects can be done alone. There's another side of the coin: Those who are typically nerdy( high iq Or just plain old eccentric) feel that they don't fit in with other extroverts and hence, even if they are good looking, they tend to dress down to fit in with the other "nerds" Hence, it's a feedback loop ( or atleast was).... Now, the nerds or the geeks are being considered "cool" due to the rise of science and technology ( most of the startup founders were considered nerds when they were teenagers)

It's probably a biological defense against shallow, non-thinking people entering their lives.

Some of the hottest people I know are nerdy.

I have never noticed such a thing, but then again, I am usually so busy coordinating my local Lionel Trains Enthusiasts Society meetings... Which reminds me, the 1:15 to Rico Station is about to arrive! Gotta run!
