+32 In n out burgers aren't as cheap as everyone believes, amirite?

by Anonymous 7 months ago

Pretty sure the main reason people love in n out is the quality and freshness They are extremely fresh, I worked there in high school and every ingredient like potatoes, lettuce, tomatoes etc is cut up in the store that day. They are not frozen and full of preservatives.

by Anonymous 7 months ago

And the "cheap" claims are typically that is cheap relative to similar quality foods and not necessarily cheaper than the worst fast food available. I would refer to it as a great value

I dont like their buns or fries. Everything is good. I have a small local shop that is a little cheaper than in and out and a little better. They also almost exclusively hire felons and pays them well for fast food. So i go there when i can instead

by Ritchiemarie 7 months ago

pretty sure the main reason is its price

by Anonymous 7 months ago

fair enough. overlooked that you worked there before, i'd trust anyone who's been on the other side of the counter. but it really feels like these days what has me going back to in n out is how you can get a decent meal under 10 bucks, unlike anywhere else

by Anonymous 7 months ago

Yeah maybe that he's been a factor recently, but there have always been a lot of people who only eat there because they view it as more healthy. The reason in n out has not spread further, is because they use their own, tightly controlled farms and ship the ingredients daily so that there never needs to be freezers or preservatives involved. I'm guessing a big reason the prices have stayed lower, is that this vertical integration where they also control the price of ingredients to an extent A lot of people don't want to eat fast food but will settle for in n out for that reason, especially parents when they want to feed their kids something "healthy" but don't have time to cook etc

by Anonymous 7 months ago

this is just making me want to get in n out later today

by Anonymous 7 months ago

It's the combo of price and quality.

$11 for a cooked complete meal in California is cheap as all hell regardless

by Agreeable-Gas2559 7 months ago

Also, they started out more expensive than other places but haven't raised their prices that much, so now they're cheaper than or at the very least competitive with non-premium options.

I'm in northwest Oregon, and up until just a few years ago, you could still get a Burger King Whopper meal for about $6 using the deals in their smart app (or sometimes even $4.50 when there was the deal for 2 of the meals for $9). Not anymore though. For a long time (and until covid), it seemed like about $6 was a fairly common price range for a fast food burger meal, but it seems that standard fast food meal prices in my area have all shot up to over $10. It feels a bit ridiculous how expensive fast food has become lately. I do sometimes get fast food, and I try to go for the deals, but sometimes I go even when there isn't a deal. Yesterday, my wife and I got a late lunch from Arby's, a couple of medium-sized meals plus an extra couple of roast beef sandwiches, one of which was free with an online coupon, and it was still about $31 for that food. Normally, a few years ago, I'd probably have expected that to cost about $20 max.

Almost no one is calling in n out the cheapest burger. They are saying in n out has relatively cheap food for how well they take care of and pay their employees. Huge difference in argument here. It's the biggest argument against "oh if you pay burger flippers more, the big mac will need to be $10!" Clearly not.

This. So much this

Superior flavor, better service, privately owned - these are the reasons I support their business. If I want to save money I'll eat at home.

by Anonymous 7 months ago

I'm glad so many haters are in here, fewer people in the drive thru ✌🏽 In n out is 🐐

by Anonymous 7 months ago

I value flavor over quantity. In-n-Out has above-average burgers at average prices. Last time I went a few weeks ago my combo was $6.50 or so for a lunch that filled me up for the rest of the day. Good enough for me.

by Anonymous 7 months ago

Same. I'll take vegetables and a bun that actually contribute to the flavor of a burger over a bigger patty any day.

But you know it's going to be good

by Anonymous 7 months ago

It's cheap if you don't eat like a fat ass. I personally don't like their fries or drink soda so 4.39 for a cheeseburger that's always on point and fresh is unbeatable in this market.

by Anonymous 7 months ago

Oh I definitely eat like a fat ass at In N Out but that's mainly because of the bomb ass shakes. I don't need the fries... they're kinda mid.

by Wonderful_Bridge 7 months ago

In N Out is real food

by Potential_Buy634 7 months ago

Rookie mistake ordering their fries.

by Anonymous 7 months ago

In n Out fries are delicious and those that disagree just don't like the taste of fresh potatos

by patsybalistreri 7 months ago

I live in LA and have always seen them have a drive thru line that made it to the street. If it didn't make it that far the location was closed. They're not cheap but man do I know there's nothing molding in that kitchen.

by Alfonso94 7 months ago

I mean ive paid more than that for a single meal at McDonald's with nowhere near the quality...

by phyllisweissnat 7 months ago

Thank you!

by hassan70 7 months ago

Not anymore

by Anonymous 7 months ago

I mean, it's all relatively cheap - the only question is: is it GOOD? I like In N Out. I don't like Carl's. I don't really like McDonald's, although McDonald's is insanely cheap thanks to all the promos. Besides, I'm only in the Western USA a few times a year so it's a bit of a rare treat for me.

by Wonderful_Bridge 7 months ago

Nah dude I get two double doubles, animal fries and a drink to split with my girl and it's $20 and often the best thing we eat all week. It's very cheap for the quality and especially compared to other burgers

by Anonymous 7 months ago

Okay, now compare it to a restaurant that has good food.

by Anonymous 7 months ago

Carl Jrs tastes terrible though

by Big-Repeat 7 months ago

In and Out is the only fast food chain that cooks to order. Quality over quantity.

by Anonymous 7 months ago

It takes too long in line, they are too thin, and they always make me rush to the bathroom. I would rather keep my money and be hungry

by Anonymous 7 months ago

"You can argue taste of the burger all you want…" Thanks, I'll do just that .

by Anonymous 7 months ago

If you don't like in n out fries you have the pallet of a 5 year old

by Anonymous 7 months ago

As an aside, on a recent visit to Cali, I ate at an In n Out in Los Angeles and dreading the fries as well lol. I hadn't eaten at an In n Out in years as there are no In n Out fast food places where I live - I remember great burgers but lousy fries from the last time I ate there. IDK if In n Out changed up the seasoning or whatever, but their french fries actually tasted pretty darn good.

by Anonymous 7 months ago

I'm not from California. Had my first In N Out burger when I was in my late 20s. I think if you compare them to other fast food burgers they're pretty great. Yeah, you can make a better burger at home but that's true of every fast food place.

by Advanced-Reason 7 months ago

I disagree. It may be healthier than other fast food burgers, but in terms of taste, I prefer almost anything else. In N Out is so bland, even if you get Animal Style.

by PlasticFront 7 months ago

Good. Keep it up guys.

by Willing_Durian 7 months ago

I just didn't think it was any good. I particularly disliked their buns.

by SmallShake1379 7 months ago

Lmao the only creepy cult is the "I hate In n Out cause I don't understand what people like about it" cult
