+67 The Rock is a terrible actor and an insufferable human being. amirite?

by PlayfulCanary2173 6 months ago

Also the gear.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

He definitely has that big persona but his acting can be pretty hit or miss. It feels like he leans a lot on his image rather than actually showing much range. And yeah that whole carefully crafted vibe doesn't always feel real.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

The Rock has become one of those actors who plays themselves in every role. Only the characters' names change, but he gives the same performance. Doesn't help that he is over exposed. There are too many projects, too many middling to bad performances.

by Any_Option7024 6 months ago

Yeah but he's put himself also in a and spot as an action star imo First all he can do is action, but hey that's ok But the he has all these stipulations on not ever being hit etc Well that just turns you into an a very boring action hero, it literally looks like you're never phased. It worked for Arnie back in his Commando 80s days but movies have moved on and frankly even Arnie started to show more range and vulnerability

by HighwayAdventurous 6 months ago

Same for Jason Statham and Vin Diesel.

by Hettingernelson 6 months ago

I literally couldn't name any of his characters , we always just to refer to him as the person.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

He also denies he's on PEDs. Okay mate.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

At least Batista admitted he wasnt natty and got off the juice for his own health

by Anonymous 6 months ago

People can change.

by Fisherdolores 6 months ago

You think this is slicked back?!

by Thin_Friendship 6 months ago

This is pushed back!

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Never heard that story before

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Please elaborate

by pouroslaisha 6 months ago

Thats certainly weird atleast. Thank you!

by pouroslaisha 6 months ago

He does this so people don't test his urine form the toilet and expose what PEDs he's taking. It's made him completely paranoid.

by dejahcarroll 6 months ago

Apparently it's pretty common for security services to collect the poo from world leaders to prevent anyone from analysing it to find health problems ect. Imagine having that job.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Yeah I've read this about Putin. I suppose his name checks out. He poos. Security puts it in a tin.

by dejahcarroll 6 months ago

He was nearly perfect in the first Jumanji and Moana... But he has hit on an acting persona, while it fits him well, but is repetitive...

by Ok-Stretch 6 months ago

But he's so good when you pair him with Kevin Hart! I can't believe I have to add this but,,, /S

by Wardhegmann 6 months ago

I didn't know you know the Rock personally OP

by Schuppesalvador 6 months ago

it's not really popular. The guy is one of the highest paid actors in the world because movies he's in generate a lot of income for studio execs. He's one of the most popular actors out there

by Anonymous 6 months ago

That doesnt make him a good one though.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Yeah, but the opinion was that the rock was a bad actor, which is not an unpopular opinion

by Anonymous 6 months ago

And a terrible human being which is not a popular opinion

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Lots of people think Dwayne is a terrible actor and he is, how big his acting career is has nothing to do with peoples personal opinion of him himself.

by Former_Steak4288 6 months ago

He makes bank because he is popular with audiences. If people didn't like him or his movies, then people wouldn't go see his movies, and he wouldn't get paid like he does or make as many movies as he does. Whether you and I like him or not, has nothing to do with his popularity. The numbers speak for themselves

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Still, popularity and personal opinion are two completely different things, you can be the most popular kid in school and still be a d*ckhead. Anyways, if what you said was true, with Black Adam it was really only Dwayne carrying the movie and even that wasn't even close to being enough to breaking even on what they spent making the movie, the only success he has had in this industry was alongside other more popular and entertaining actors.

by Former_Steak4288 6 months ago

I like him.

by Marktorp 6 months ago

Me too.

by Ok-Pin-3672 6 months ago

That's because he's not an Actor He's a movie star

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Insufferable human being is a bit much. He seems sound to me.

by sanfordmaegan 6 months ago

If the rock falls on you are you still stuck between a rock and a hard place or the rock and a hard place?

by Amanda50 6 months ago

I'm stuck between emotional and sexual frustration

by Anonymous 6 months ago

This isn't an unpopular opinion. The Rock, Kevin Heart it's always the same answers for who cannot act.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

This is unpopular at this point?

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Rock seems nice. But yeah, bad actor

by Heathcoteanthon 6 months ago

Who ever thinks the Rock is a good actor? Getting lots of jobs in Hollywood has never been tied to good acting.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Terrible person irl and only puts on a fake persona when cameras or fans are around. There's a reason people don't want to work with him.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Dude. He tries to dominate every movie he is in. He straight up tried to make the DC movies about his character and has a rule where he is not allowed to be a villain

by Severe_Cost 6 months ago

Doesn't he also have a rule where he can't actually lose a fight?

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Must have decided this after Doom 😂

by Hot_Total_5713 6 months ago

For example just look at any Steven segal movie. I mean they're bad for other reasons, but still this one's a factor.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

But its in a contract and he played an actual villain he made the studio turn into a anti hero.

by Severe_Cost 6 months ago

Didn't he, Vin Diesel, and Jason Statham all have that rule about not losing? Talk about fights with zero weight knowing that.

by PlayfulCanary2173 6 months ago

Yeah i heard that too. Ive heard the Rocks attitude with that stuff is way worse in comparison.

by Severe_Cost 6 months ago

If I remember correctly they had it in their contracts that the other 2 couldn't have more punches then they did. At least in the fast and the furious franchise.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

He did an entire shampoo line endorsement 😂

by Unable-Ice-3924 6 months ago

Wasn't an endorsement, it's his shampoo line which is dumb.

by Kayceepagac 6 months ago

Oh, wait, that's his ACTUAL line?! 😂😂😂😂 I saw the big ad in Target last time I was there and about died haha I can't imagine anyone actually buying it!

by Unable-Ice-3924 6 months ago

Good one!

by streichmason 6 months ago

I honestly don't get the Under Armour line either. Twice as expensive just because it has a Brahma bull on it? No thanks.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Plus he's a coward, he won't stand up for his own beliefs if it means people won't watch his movie

by Cultural_Big7951 6 months ago

This is a POPULAR opinion. Wrestling fans acknowledge John Cena and Batista as good actors but not that Dwayne

by LowOld 6 months ago

people who only play themself arent actors lol

by walkerthompson 6 months ago

What has he done? Being a movie star surely can't be enough for you to strongly dislike him

by Anonymous 6 months ago

It's not any one thing he did, honestly. (Though there are things such as the Hawaii fires that come off extremely out of touch, even if objectively it was a positive) It's the way he comes off, almost like a pick me girl, craving attention. He just doesn't seem genuine and that's a huge turnoff for me.

by PlayfulCanary2173 6 months ago

Kind of a diva, for example he'd show up hours late for shooting during the filming of red one which is why it took so long and costed so much to make. That and he absolutely refuses to play a villain in any movie whatsoever. Also still claims to not be using PED to stay in that shape even when he's in his 50's.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

He ended up playing the villain in Doom. His character gets his ass handed to him too.

by halvorsonaiyana 6 months ago

He became wayyyy too corporate for my liking

by agustinaklocko 6 months ago

I think this sentiment is becoming more and more popular. All of my friends feel this way.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

That also goes for Kevin heart. I don't think this is an unpopular opinion.

by Cautious-Weight7855 6 months ago

His acting can be improved... alot sometimes. But why is he an insufferable human being? From the little that i know hes actually quite a chill dude. Did he do something bad in recent years that ive missed?

by Lorenzkeeling 6 months ago

He's pretty great in the Jumanji movies, specifically because those movies feel like he's making fun of the exact kind of character he plays every single time. A rare moment of self-awareness

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Disagree. I like Dwayne Johnson. His WWE character was popular for a reason

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Rockhead dum dum

by Anonymous 6 months ago

tbh i cant think of one good movie that i would rewatch with the rock in it.... Dude seems like a flogger

by Greedy_Salary 6 months ago

This has become a pretty popular opinion

by Anonymous 6 months ago

as much as the internet is anonymous and people can basically claim anything, i read multiple times from people who claimed to have worked with him in some capacity that he's actually a giant pos. wouldn't be surprised if it was true.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

I think his best was when he and Oprah begged for the poors to donate to Maui.

by Suspicious_Steak 6 months ago

Where is the evidence that he's a bad human?

by norbertograham 6 months ago

Not unpopular.

by Kayceepagac 6 months ago

This is an unpopular opinion?

by Anonymous 6 months ago

I get not being a fan of him as an actor but I find it really strange that you would feel that strongly about him as a person when you presumably don't know him personally.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Smells about right.

by damarisconsidin 6 months ago

Not that unpopular an opinion

by Auerdestin 6 months ago

Lukewarm take

by Anonymous 6 months ago

The Rock is great. Dwayne Johnson is a follically-challenged helmet of a man, but The Rock is phenomenal.

by ezekielmaggio 6 months ago

That's not unpopular

by Anonymous 6 months ago

He's a fantastic human being who has done lots for the community and for fans and for those around him. Inspiring thousands of people. Actor though? Not my cup of my tea, not to mean he's bad at all though.

by okeefesimone 6 months ago

His behavior is obnoxious. Behind closed doors hes a dick with a massive ego problem

by Severe_Cost 6 months ago

You met him?

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Other people have met him.

by Severe_Cost 6 months ago

If someone gets as popular as the rock people are gonna get pissed at him for thousands of different petty reasons. As far as celebrities go he doesn't really seem to be that bad his worst sin was trying to take over the DCU in a political power play. If that's really the worst he's done I think he's probably a somewhat decent human.

by NearbyTwist9135 6 months ago

He's got the personality, but his acting just doesn't do it for me.

by Kuhnearnestine 6 months ago

I feel like he doesn't try to act in any more serious roles, unlike Bautista who definitely does go out of his way to get roles that require some more serious acting

by Anonymous 6 months ago

I haven't heard anything to suggest he is an insufferable human being, but it's entirely possible he is.

by Trompgarth 6 months ago

How weird to see this particular opinion today... just the other day, I was thinking that The Rock isn't a good actor, as he mainly just play The Rock, and that character is malplaced in almost anything that isn't wrestling.

by Anonymous 6 months ago
