ONE WAY OUT!!!! ONE WAY OUT!!!

by mathilde84 6 months ago

I personally find this to be an unpopular opinion. God job! It hurt me lol I have an unfortunate ride or die mentality for a lot of star wars. Alot, not all. Sequels are trash.

by Honest_Bath 6 months ago

I found if you view the sequels not as sequels but their own Star Wars story it's much easier to swallow

by rose09 6 months ago

I might try to go at them again with this mentality. Thanks for the idea!

by Honest_Bath 6 months ago

Starwars multiverse

by Anonymous 6 months ago

That's okay, Star Wars fans don't even like Star Wars

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Have you definitely watched any Star Wars?

by rose09 6 months ago

Totally agree. Even the original trilogy suffers from pacing issues. They are films that I can appreciate from a technical and historical perspective but I really struggle to enjoy them as movies.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Now this is an unpopular opinion I can get behind. I can appreciate the OT from a technical and a cultural/historical perspective and those movies are still fun and entertaining and I wouldn't say bad, but they are not good movies. More people need to watch them without their rose colored pop cultural glasses on.

by No_Condition3050 6 months ago

Always a mystery with other franchises like Dune too, I just reject that THAT many people have long attention spans

by Anonymous 6 months ago

The first movie I ever watched in cinema was the phantom menace in 1999 as a 4 year old kid. It blew my mind and I became a massive SW fan, I collected 2000 USD worth of Lego Star Wars sets. I remained a fan until the Disney sequels came out which ruined the entire franchise for me. If you didn't grow up with it you won't understand the appeal. The world has changed a lot since the original Star Wars and the prequels came out, popular culture became oversaturated with Star Wars cliches and better movies with better effects came out since then. The Star Wars films not produced by Disney still hold a special place in my heart. The movies themselves aren't that great but the fictional universe George Lucas created is what makes the franchise great

by Crafty-Run4456 6 months ago

But that doesn't mean the reverse is true - I grew up with the originals and it leaves me so cold. I don't get it at all. Terrible acting, dull predictable storylines and un-engaging characters. It's fine if you like them - most people do. But not having grown up with them doesn't mean you don't get them, any more than growing up with them means you love them, that's very reductive.

by dariohodkiewicz 6 months ago

The story is simple and predictable and that's the beauty of it for me. Good vs evil. Very rare nowadays where most movies and series have morally ambiguous characters and unresolved endings. Most people who watched Star Wars can name and remember most characters even ones that barely had any screen time such as boba fett. Most movies I watch nowadays have characters nobody can remember or name even while watching the movie

by Crafty-Run4456 6 months ago

I grew up with them. But then I grew up. Can't watch that crap anymore.

by ward84 6 months ago

I totally agree. The acting is terrible, the story line is a snorefest, and chewbacca moaning and groaning makes me want to throw my tv out a window. How this franchise is so popular, is mind boggling.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

I don't think you've watched any of the shows. Also the story is really good, and Darth Vader is one of the best fictional villains ever created.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Was really cool at the beginning, then george lucas had abit too much fun with the prequels which everyone said was ass except him. Then disney bought the IP and it was a downward spiral since then

by Anonymous 6 months ago

I'm inclined to agree. Way back in 1977 when the first film was released it was a good innovative film with great special effects (for the time), however over the years they have just become stale, using the exact same storyline, the same style characters and use CGI/special effects as a replacement for the story in order to "sell" the franchise.

by Perfect-Aerie 6 months ago

I really don't like them, I find them unbelievably dull. Having said that, I find all fantasy, and space fantasy in particular, unbelievable dull. I think what people love about it is the world building - and if you don't get invested in that then there isn't much left to enjoy really.

by dariohodkiewicz 6 months ago

The story and the characters are really good.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

For me the concept is very cool. The execution - with odd exceptions such as The Empire Strikes Back, KotOR and Battlefront - is lacking to varying degrees. Even something like The Mandolorian, which I generally enjoyed, has this issue of having cool segments with some very odd decision making and pacing story-wise.

by janelle82 6 months ago

I enjoy them, some more than others, i don't think they are great masterpieces of cinema or anything, and i do think some of the fans, take these children's movies way to seriously. I don't really understand adults who makes Star Wars movies that are children's movie their whole personality.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

I agree. The original trilogy was okay, but I can't understand basing your entire life and personality around them.

by Marcellazemlak 6 months ago

You're saying you were interested in Star Wars you keep going into the like merchant stuff but what will you be bored from the beginning right?

by No-Vermicelli5303 6 months ago

What Star Wars? Really need some context.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

If you didn't watch Star Wars when you were a kid, you won't have the same adoration as most of the hardcore Star Wars fanbase. I saw the prequels when I was 12 yo and I loved it then but quickly grew out of it. The Original Trilogy is still great but it's been diluted to much and everything that's come after it's eh.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

I agree 100%, actually. Like yourself, I have just never found Star Wars interesting.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Definitely an unpopular opinion.

by BeautifulPie4076 6 months ago

I agree. The concept is cool, but pacing is slow, story is painfully boring, and acting at some points is pitiful. I'm not really the target audience though

by Clean_Comfortable_17 6 months ago

I agree with you regarding the main films. Rogue one was great, andor was great, mando was great. Anything involving jedi seems to suck. Although potentially thats because the films are family friendly

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Oh God yes... That franchise is over hyped imo. One time my friend tried to convince me to like it I think we've watched two first movies and it's just not for me

by Anonymous 6 months ago

It's not good just ok and idk why ppl lose their minds over it. . My bro forced me to watch it in the theater and I felt asleep, it seemed more drama than action and I don't like drama

by Anonymous 6 months ago

I have seen all 11 live-action Star Wars films and all 7 live-action Star Wars series up to Skeleton Crew episode 4 and I would never call myself a fan. There's something so off about it that I can't place most of the time. It's just disjointed in my opinion.

by No-Effective 6 months ago

The only Star Wars games i actually like are the clone wars and force unleashed 1+2. Other than those games, the entire series is boring to me.

by Raphaellubowitz 6 months ago

yeah okay, you're just saying this because its massively popular, its really cheap and overdone

by Odd_Task 6 months ago

This is wild 😆 Jedis, The Empire vs The Rebellion, The dark side of the force vs the light, freakin light sabers, spaceships with freakin laserbeams going ptew ptew ptew, Wookies going aaaawgh, Darth freakin Vader „Nooo I am your father", Yoda, the Death Star blowing up freaking planets with alien lifeforms galore, deep symbolism galore all over the place. Truly, what else needs to be added for OP to not call it bland? Nothing of interest happens? Boring? 😄 I don‘t know what else to write… The music?! The sunset with the two suns?? Boba Fett? The Stormtroopers? The TIE fighters going huuuuaaaw, huuuaaaw. Jabba the Hut going ho ho ho ho. The rankor? All the little alien creatures with the funny voices and completely original languages? The Emperor?

by audrabechtelar 6 months ago

Star Wars is very popular but its indeed having a big problem: The "Galaxy far far away" is very empty in terms of storypotential. If you take the kind of story which made it popular, then everything was already told in the three Original movies. Everything after that was more or less just a variation. Abd the Prequels were just amateuris in terms of storytelling. Star Wars is not Star Trek. In theory, Star Trek can have an infinite amountcof Storytelling. Star Wars can not replicate that potential, because the potential is just not there.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

You saw the lightsabers and went eh this sucks? 12yo me would've been really mad. I'll happily admit the writing isn't always the best and that some of the movies are pretty bad objectively. But Star Wars has the best visual style and feels like it has the most fleshed out lore and universe out of any scifi franchise. Not to mention the soundtrack/sound effects being out of this world great.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

How dare you! Go wash your mouth with soap...

by Anonymous 6 months ago

I LOVED Star Wars as a kid, enjoyed some books and videogames as a teen and early adult. The prequels took the luster off a bit and the Disney trilogy plus its exhausting constant churn of crap has left me well and truly sick of it. The original trilogy is a good set of films to introduce your kids to. I'd say if you're introduced as an adult and you're not already a sci-fi/fantasy fan, it's too late.

by franciscowiegan 6 months ago

I always regard Star Trek, especially the originals, as a Western just set in space.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Genuinely not sure if this is a troll or genuine goof. 😂

by franciscowiegan 6 months ago

Yep. It's ridiculous that it often gets put up against LOTR when they're absolutely miles apart. The entire star wars franchise has less lore and depth than one scene in a LOTR film.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

LOTR is overrated

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Yeah the opinion of someone with an anime pfp on matters such as this is literally worthless.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I have to agree to, I was never really interested in that but I did give it a go.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

I'm not really a fan but saying it's bland is just factually incorrect lol

by Jarrett58 6 months ago

There are things I like about Star Wars, but I don't think it could ever be as interesting as Star Trek. Star Wars makes no coherent statement, and therefore, is dull, ultimately.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

"Star Wars is not for me". There, fix it for you ;)
