I am convinced that skiing was made up trying to make the best out of the crappiest season of the year. It's kinda fun but it's also a huge hassle and most summer activities are better.

I love winter. I can't stand warm weather, I'd prefer it to snow over cold rain, or warm rain for that matter. Only issue with it is the people who forget how to drive in snow every year when it happens every year (for now, at least).

Yeah I live in Australia (in the part of it that doesn't snow). Love winter lol. Winter for me is between -1 and 20 °C. A good jumper (you call them sweaters), socks and maybe a beanie is more than enough to keep you toasty.

I think many people genuinely love the BEGINNING of winter. They love that drastic change of season from red leaves to bare branches. They love those first, fresh snows. They do genuinely love those hot cocoa and fireplace traditions. But almost everyone I know who lives in a severe winter location is completely over it after maybe a month. So I would argue that their love is real but very short-lived.

I love winter it's why I love in the cloudy PNW. I love grey and rain and I love cozy indoor activities. I prefer dark to bright. I love to be dressed In Layers. I respect the winter more than I respect anything. The cold, snow, the dark. It's dangerous and it demands respect. It just leaves me in Awe.

I used to absolutely love winter. But I was a hockey player and skied and snowmobiled all winter. Winter used to be awesome where I live, but climate change has the winters all messed up here. It started changing about 20-25 years ago. We had tonnes of snow and very cold winters starting before Halloween. Now winter starts half way through December and is gone in 3 months. Snowmobiling and skiing and snowboarding are not what they used to be around here

Early sunsets, dark skies and cold temps ARE the reasons for my love of winter. You can't really use the shovelling snow comparison unless you want to admit that you have to deal with flies/bugs 24/7, sweat, fans everywhere and discomfort during the summer.

I love winter. I love the cold. I love shoveling snow and the cold crunch of it under my feet. I love the crisp air and how sound travels across it. I love that I can sit next to a fire and watch the flames while being warned by it. In the cold, I can bundle up and be cozy, adding more layers as needed. In the heat, the cost of cooling my home is unpleasant and I can only take so clothing much off before I end up with strange looks from the neighbors and the authorities demanding my name be on certain lists. e: I forgot to mention that I can place my tasty beverages outside to keep them cold and crisp, not having the spend anything to do so!

Winter is fine if you are prepared. Big parka, big snow blower, etc. all that aside there is something truly magical about being alone on a snowy winter night the defening silence cut by the inaudible sound of millions of snowflakes falling is surreal. It's super hard to explain but it's one of the most relaxing experiences out there.

I'm from the Midwestern US. Pretty far north, at that, and I actually do love winter. The crisp cold air that almost freezes your lungs when you breathe, the crunch of snow underfoot and just how serene night time is, even if it does get dark at 4pm. None of this is sarcasm btw I really feel this way about winter. It's goated.

I like the weather, I enjoy that it gets earlier dark, it's a lot more cozy, I like being able to sleep comfortably without sweating my ass off, always been an out-doorsey person, and always like being out in the winter, love the occasional snow, but it's gotten more rare over the years

I don't like being too much of either but I would definitely chose cold over hot. Used to be the other way around honestly but I'm almost 40 now and my body's like nah anytime it's over 80 lol And I work nights. So winter is nice cuz I leave for work and it's dark but I can still get home and in bed before the suns up, so it doesn't feel as bad. In the summer it suuuucks and feels like a much longer day when it's bright leaving, and bright getting into bed after work.

I like it because my birthday is in December then a week after it is the holidays and although I don't celebrate it, i enjoy it a lot. Going for a walk to see the lights. Everyone takes time off from work and work load slows down, less stress, sleep more. I'm introvert so I don't feel guilty of having to go out every weekend too. It's just amazing.

While i was a kid, i was forced to play outside with good weather and when it was bad i was allowed to play my PS2 without yelling. I had almost 0 friends as a kid so i loved when the weather was bad and in winter it was always almost so. Even now, as an adult, bad weather still makes me feel good and i'm happier in winter and fall than in the summer and spring because i'm still a gaming nerd (but now with friends). Scraping my car sucks though!

I love winter. I don't mind any of the things you listed and everywhere just tends to be less peopley. It's beautiful, and my dog goes absolutely nuts for the snow, which is adorable. Even the not nice parts are kind of nice for me, they make me nostalgic and somber in kind of a reflective way. Winter is like if the song Auld Lang Syne was a season. Also there's, a joy in being bitingly cold while scraping a windshield and then getting into your warm car. Shoveling is very satisfying, a good workout, and people are super nice to you when you do it for them. I suppose it's either your cup of tea or not, but there are definitely people who genuinely like it. I (mostly) hate summer, so maybe it's a one or the other kinda thing.

You can't ski in the summer. You can't have sledge slides, snowboarding or any other winter sport... without winter, or rather - without snow. Which comes with winter.

People like Winter for the fake romantic things (everything good about Winter) but the reality is (all the bad things about winter) I like the cold. I like sweaters and heavy blankets and cheap electric bills because I'm not paying for heat. I like waking up to the sunrise so the shorter days are find for me. I'm willing to sit in my car for 10 extra minutes to thaw it out in the morning in exchange for these things. This isn't even to say people who live in snowy places, especially those who play Winter sports.

I love winter. I love fresh snow, sleet, rain. I love leaving footprints in a clean white blanket of snow and I also love the slushy brown mess left behind. The slippery pavements too. Maybe not when I'm older but I love the little slips on the ice; I enjoy the act of finding the least slippery parts to walk on makes a morning walk interesting. The ice sits in the roads and twinkles like glitter. The cold against my skin is refreshing and the stinging rain striking my face makes me feel alive. The low winter sun is sweet and the earlier darkness makes me feel comfortable. Walks in the early evening with the snow slowly coming down, watching it flit through the air around the glow of a street lamp. The air fresher than any other time of year. Even heavy rain is beautiful in the winter evenings, the warm lamp light ripples in the puddles as the rain lashes downwards. The tapping on my rain hood, the wind whipping it across my face. Ah I love winter so much.

I love winter. I like wearing as many layers as possible, and that's only feasible in winter. I have gone outside in full winter gear and just slept in the snow before, and it's so peaceful and calming. I also love the hot cocoa by the fireplace while it gently snows out, and don't really get how that's romanticizing it when it's a common thing that can happen in winter. It also carries memories of winter vacation as a kid so there's some nostalgia thrown in. My least favorite season is fall, so I don't just like winter because it's the opposite of summer

They just like the idea of being in their house, curled up on the couch under a blanket with a book or iPad, looking out the window and seeing the snow. People who actually like being outside, or actually leave their homes every day, get tired of it real quick.

I love winter, where I live it hasn't been cold enough to snow in almost 20 years but I still have to wear many layers of clothing (I'm a very skinny girl) and I prefer this way more than the +40°C we get in the summer. one thing I've noticed over the years it's that it's raining way less so the cold is not even that bad. The only downside of winter to me is having to walk home in the dark.

My favorite is autumn because I can't stand warm weather, but I don't enjoy it being freezing cold. However, one part I like more from winter than fall is that even though it gets dark earlier, it doesn't look as dark as fall because of all the snow reflecting light, which makes me feel a bit more safe. Spring and summer I straight up don't like.

I love the snow...running in the snow, sledding, skiing, ice skating, hiking and biking on trails, sitting by the firepit, wearing layers, drinking hot beverages, Christmas lights, the absence of insects and heat. Snow is absolutely beautiful. But only if it's between 15 and 30 degrees. Below that it gets uncomfortable to breathe, above that it's muddy and damp. So I like the more northern winters. If there's no snow, I don't care. But it's easier to layer up for 15 degrees than it is to deal with a 95 degree, 90 percent humidity day in the summer when you're basically stuck inside due to mosquitoes and excessive heat if you want to do anything strenuous.

That's just it, you have to like winter without the snow. I feel like that's where OP is usually correct. I personally love cold weather in general no matter if there is snow or not but I know most people are not like that. I also grew up where school was either closed because of a foot and a half of snow or a wind chill of -40 or below in order to be shut down. Idk I love the cold personally. Way more than I like the heat but it's definitely unpopular, just don't think in the way OP is framing it.
