by Anonymous 6 months ago

Super popular opinion.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

There is only one country(+2 small ones) where this is not a popular opinion.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

It's mostly used in the US and Americans are one of the only ones who use it. How does it affect you 😩

by Anonymous 6 months ago

It's not about the measurement system. It's a dumb excuse to hate on America.

by lebsackhadley 6 months ago

Very popular take. There's a reason why like 3 countries use it, and they're all developing.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Yep, popular by definition.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

About 95% of the world uses the metric system and you think this opinion is unpopular?

by Anonymous 6 months ago

While yes it is objectively harder to convert between units its not something that people do on a daily basis. And most of the conversions people do frequently are the easy ones lile feet to yards or inches to feet, very few people have to do square miles to acres. This is something that Americans rarely think about yet non Americans seem genuinely infuriated by.

Wtf is a long ton

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Probably like 17 jillters or some other nonsense.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

The kind nobody uses. A short ton is 2000 lbs. I've never actually seen a long ton used.

by Anxious-Tale 6 months ago

Yes, and? This isn't an unpopular opinion, also stone really isn't used in the US, the only one that people that know the two systems might legitimately defend is Fahrenheit vs Celsius.

by Status_Mess5258 6 months ago

Not many countries use it for a reason. This isn't unpopular. It's like only the US that use it fully.

by Just-Personality 6 months ago

You have your system, we have ours. How many people really need to know that a square mile is 649 acres? Also now that you know the answer, why does it matter what unit it's in? Base 10 is great when you have to calculate very very large or very very small numbers but in day to day it makes no difference. No one is converting ounces to tons by way of pounds; if you're working in tons you're going to start at the next smallest unit.

This isn't a very unpopular take. The world is a lot bigger than the USA

I need to have 2 sets of sockets and wrenches. 1 set for working on the house, one set for working on my euro car.

by Frutherford 6 months ago

On the highway going 60mph = 1 mile per minute. That's convenient. The rest is nonsense. I've got most of the conversions memorized so it's no real issue except for Celsius. Other than 0 and 100c, I've got no idea.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Ok I'll go tell the president and ask the governors and all the manufacturers that we have to change to metric because you said so. Thanks for fixing our country!

by Marques83 6 months ago

I make due just fine with imperial.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Hold on, successful? World wants to be like you? Jealous? Huh? Where did you get that?

by Anonymous 6 months ago

Not even americans use that system. Nasa use metric for example.

by Anonymous 6 months ago

It "revolves" around the US because its the worlds superpower (even tho that crown may soon be gone idk)
