It's a meme opinion, you'll find it some online communities talking about how spicy McDonald's sprite is or how it's the best and not like normal sprite. I've heard the opinion enough to say it's out there, but seems to be more of a TikTok/instagram type meme.

Buying any clear soda from a fast food restaurant is playing with fire. You can't tell just by looking at it if the syrup has run out, so there's a serious risk of taking a big swig of straight carbonated water.

It isn't the same. They use more syrup to carbonated water in a proprietary blend. Receive their syrup in stainless steel. And pre chill the water. Having said that, the flavor is personal preference, but yes, it is different. So, I'm not sure if this opinion is unpopular, or just partially wrong.

I used to work at a McDonald's years ago. It never came in stainless steel it was just a bag you hooked up to a fountain.

yeah i wouldn't trust this. allrecipes isn't trustworthy, and googling it, then next article i found says the exact opposite. could be something going on but ive never hear of anyone working there confirming this. i feel like it hits better at mcdonalds, but also im eating salty fries sooo

thats true, they are. the syrup thing is what i'm most dubious about because I don't know why coke would agree to it, but it is a story often told. certainly possible I just don't see real sources

This is actually factually incorrect as it's well documented McDonalds puts out what would be considered the "freshest" soda. It's the way they store the syrup and seltzer.
