As a longtime enjoyer of tea, it sounds like people are as pretentious about tea some goons are about coffee. It's f-ing leaf water. It's not that serious.

I love my hot leaf water 🍵

I like how Uncle Iroh put it: "hot leaf juice". I call it regularly.

As opposed to "hot bean juice" (coffee?)

by sylvesterlubowi 5 months ago

I've heard it described best as "bean water".

I did not realize people had any other opinion about herbal tea other than it's a type of tea.

I just figured it was an opinion of people in the U.K. that I, as a Minnesotan don't understand lol. I love me a good herbal tea.

This isn't unpopular. I'm actually confused where you would even find someone who didn't understand herbal tea is tea.

Herbal tea is tea. It is. Although, I would argue that herbal tea should be herbal. Chamomile tea is herbal. Peppermint tea is herbal. Rose tea is herbal. Ginger tea is not herbal. Cumin tea is not herbal. Moth tea is not herbal. (although your dictionary would probably disagree that this is tea as well)

I love the full spectrum of tea, from grocery store cheapies to fine exotics. People need to get a grip if they want to be elitist over the juice that seeps from leaf pores. The only thing I can't abide is microwaving the water to heat it. Truly cursed and my soul dies a little anytime I'm forced to do it.

Is it chocolate if it's made of carob? Is it coffee if it's made from.....I don't know.....not coffee? Is it wine if it's made from potatoes? Is it being the devil's advocate if I'm just being a total butthole on the internet?

Those people should say that to the people starting from the Balkans all the ways to asia and Africa where çai culture runs wild. My albanian dad demands for traditionally prepared çai (black tea) every other day.

Tisanes are tea. But also a separate thing.

I didn't realize there was a debate over this. As far as I was concerned all tea is real tea.
