AFAIK the reason for everyone using 60 as the amount of seconds and minutes in a minute and hour respectively, is because 60 can be divided by 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20, and 30. Meaning you can divide those minutes and hours by quite a lot. As for 24 hours in a day, not entirely sure without Googling it

Oh, they vary quite a bit. At the institution where I used to teach before it imploded, a 94 was an A. When I started adjuncting at Unreasonably Large University, their grading scale specified that 90 was an A+ and an 85 was an A.
