+45 People should have to get a specific supercar license before they are able to drive something high-powered. amirite?

I'd settle for people just having to retest on their basic license as that seems to be a bigger issue for my day to day life

I'd just settle for eye tests every five years after you turn 50. My grandad drove essentially blind for 20 years before we caught on. He only took my gramma and himself to church once a week (they walked to the supermarket down the road and otherwise stayed at home), it's a miracle no one was ever hurt. Grams caught him trying to read the paper upside down one day.

While knowing how the car brakes, handles, etc. would certainly help reduce crashes, the core issue that underlies most of those crashes, which is driving recklessly, isn't going to be fixed by an extra class or license or anything.

It might, but I doubt it'd be nearly effective enough for it to gain support considering how many people it would piss off. It's hard to train recklessness out of people just with threats of punishment, which is why people still regularly do way riskier things than speeding

What about a Mustang-license? You specifically learn how to do the Mustang-slide. In all seriousness, taking some extra driving lessons definitely have a good ROI if you are driving a million dollar car. In Norway, learning to drive on ice is a mandatory course which is quite pricy, but it pays for itself the first time you are driving in tough winter conditions.

just learn to manage throttle understand the limits of traction. it's still a car

Where do you draw the line of performance? A certain level of lateral grip? Power to weight ratio? 0-60 time? HP? I think better licensing up front would solve most of the issues.
